‘So unfair’ moan Strictly fans who claim ‘judges’ favourite’ was overmarked ahead of semi-final

It put him top of the leaderboard with Ellie and Vito, Bobby and Dianne and Annabel and Johannes following behind.

Nigel and Katya were forced to quit the competition at the eleventh hour after he suffered an accident in rehearsals.

It meant last weekend's elimination was cancelled - and all scores were carried over to the semi-final.

This puts Layton in prime position going into the first week that contestants have to learn two dances.

One unhappy fan said: "Sorry, but Layton was massively overmarked there!

Another added: "So that's Layton & Ellie both overmarked, Annabel undermarked, Bobby about right. Will keep that in mind for next week's vote."

Someone else said: "Way overmarked."

Another added: "Don't carry the judges scores over then. They 100 per cent overscored him last week. That didn't work. He obviously isn't getting the voted. Manipulating the situation to get him in the final."

Layton has been embroiled in favouritism rows throughout the series.

He has also faced fury from viewers who think his previous dance experience gives him an unfair advantage.

Layton moved judge Motsi Mabuse to tears at the weekend with his sizzling Paso Doble.

"Ooh wow," before pausing to hold her emotions.

Motsi continued: "So ... cool down, it's too hot you know.

"Listen, this is how you come back from a Dance Off. This is ..."

The audience then let out a huge round of applause.

The judge then added: "I have to commend both of you because all of this negativity you have been receiving and to shine on week on week, on week on week.

"Coming back. Never losing yourself.

"Always trying to push the boundaries always trying to do something very different, something very special."

She wrapped her comment with the words: "No matter what happens, just remember you left your footprint here, you were here, and you were stunning.

"Amazing!" before giving them another round of applause.
