It’s not your day to shine,’ wedding guest is told she has ‘way too much main character energy’ with her dress picks
A WEDDING guest has broken the cardinal rule of weddings everywhere.
Her dress choices threatened to upstage the bride.
People plowed into a post on Reddit telling her "It is not your day to shine."
She provoked ire with one Redditor saying she has "way too much main character energy" with her dress picks.
But she seemed oblivious to the uproar when she posted images of her dress choices.
“Is this inappropriate for a wedding guest?” she asked in a post on Reddit.
She had whittled her selection down to three feminine, floral, and floaty numbers.
They were undoubtedly gorgeous, romantic tulle confections.
But they were also show-stoppers and that was a big no-no.
There was only one star at a wedding and that was the bride.
Commenters acknowledged the dresses were beautiful, but the occasion was wrong. Think again.
"Not appropriate at all for semi-formal. You might be more dressed up than the bride," gasped one commenter.
"Way too much main character energy for a wedding guest even if it was more than semi-formal," said another.
She ignored the basic rule of weddings, said many.
"Never try to be the main character on someone else’s day," wrote one person.
"You risk upstaging the bride. It’s not your day to shine, it’s hers," added a second person.
It was a view echoed by a third person.
"Honestly, it comes off like you’re trying to upstage the bride," they said.
"It’s a bit much. Too attention-grabbing. The others are borderline. Try non-tulle," wrote a fourth person.
