A WOMAN has gone viral after people insisted her make-up look only added more than two decades to her appearance.

Make-up is a powerful tool - not only does it allow for us to hide the dark under eye bags after a late night in town, but also to express ourselves.

However, when one woman, beauty fanatic Melanie, posted a clip of herself doing her make-up routine, mean trolls were quick to say she had instantly aged by a whopping 25 years.

In the now-viral clip, which has been viewed more than 6.6million times, the pink-haired stunner could be seen with a stunning smokey eye, a tanned complexion, sharp eyebrows, as well as a gorgeous glossy nude lippy.

But after asking fellow social media users to guess her age - one of the latest trends to hit TikTok - Melanie was in the shock of her lifetime, as cruel people went as far as saying ''57''.

There were also other guesses, such as 45, 39, ''high 40s'', and 50, with a number of people insisting it was her make-up that was to be blamed.

''Early forties, but I think you would look a lot younger with different make-up style,'' one reckoned.

Someone else chimed in: ''You don’t look old. But you have sharp features that I associate with 90s super models and so it makes my brain place you at 43ish.''

Another agreed, adding: ''With this make up style it's hard to tell and I was thinking early 40s.''

''I'd say younger but the thin brows feel older,'' a fourth thought.

After taking the social media platform by storm, Melanie - who claims to be 32 - decided to hit back at the cruel trolls.

''I asked you guys how old you think I looked.

''I will say the internet is absolutely brutal and you really need to have thick skin.

''You can't ask people a lot of things, especially based on your appearance - because you will get torn apart... to pieces, to shreds.''

Melanie also went over some of the comments she had taken screenshots - and there was a range of brutal remarks people had made, with some suggesting she must be ''a smoker''.

Meanies had also insisted she must've had ''Botox'' at some point, as the fillers are ''now associated with a certain age bracket''.

''While I have nothing against it and I will get Botox and fillers, the only thing I've ever done to my face is I've got my lips done numerous times,'' Melanie told the haters on her platform.

''Threw myself in the fire for asking this question, I guess.''

Fortunately, it wasn't all negative, as heaps of kind users also raced to comments to show support.

''I guessed 28-30, I don't know where people are getting 40 from,'' one said.

Another was totally baffled by the guesses, writing: ''Girl, you do NOT look 41.''
