‘They’re slimming on my legs’ shopper says about cult-loved M&S leggings – and they’ll keep your pegs warm all winter
LEGGINGS were given a style revival last year thanks to celebrities wearing pairs that cost more than a month’s rent.
And the resurgence has been warmly welcomed by those of us who don’t think comfort should be sacrificed in the name of style.
High-street brands have upped their game too, meaning most off-the-rack leggings aren’t see-through like they once were.
That includes Marks & Spencer, with the department retailer’s Cord High Waisted Leggings receiving rave reviews from young and mature shoppers alike.
Women have rejoiced that the material provides a “slimming” effect on the legs and keeps any wobbly bits in check.
The waistband has a thick design to hug your curves, while the length comes in three variations: petite, regular and long.

The leggings are suitable for all body shapes and available in sizes 6 to 22.
They come in hues of black, brown, navy and dark green.
What’s more, they’re guaranteed to keep your pegs warm all winter thanks to the thick cord material.
“I love these leggings,” one shopper praised. “They’re cosy for the winter season.
“The cord gives a flattering, slimming line on my legs.”
Another said the leggings are “a must buy for total comfort”, while a third rejoiced that her legs “will be warm all winter”.
“Made from cotton-rich cord, these leggings are ideal for bringing a touch of texture to your looks,” M&S designers said.
“The skinny fit design features a flattering high waist and ankle-grazing length.
“Added stretch helps them to keep their shape, while the elasticated waistband makes them extra comfortable to wear.”
Leggings as we know them were then born in the Seventies, hugging the thighs of Hollywood’s ladies all the way through the Eighties and Nineties.
They stayed steadily in fashion until the late noughties, dramatically fell out of style for a few years, but then became a wardrobe staple again thanks to the comfy-dressing during the pandemic.
Now, influencers on Instagram and TikTok are even styling the tight bottoms with blazers, proving dressing smart can be a comfortable affair.
It's not just M&S' leggings that have received rave reviews.

Shoppers were also racing to their local store for the retailer's Leather Bow Ballet Pumps, which are going for £39.50.
"If you are looking for a great ballet flat, these are the ones for you.," one content creator reviewed.
