  • MVG resigned to losing record

Michael van Gerwen is resigned to losing his record as the youngest ever World Champion.

MVG was crowned the world's best thrower for the first time in 2014 when he was just 24 years old.

Now 35. Van Gerwen reckons Luke Littler will certainly break that record given that he has made consecutive World Championship finals and is only 17 years old.

He's got years. I think he might [break the record]. With his capability it would surprise me if he doesn't beat it.

I don't really care, I don't really look to stats.

Luke Littler knows just how good Michael van Gerwen is and is ready to face the Green Machine at his best on the Ally Pally stage tonight.

Van Gerwen is chasing his fourth world title, while Littler looks for his first, but the Nuke knows there won't be any complacency from his opponent at the oche.

Speaking to the media yesterday, he said: "He's hunting for his fourth title and I'm hunting for my first. It has been a while since Michael picked up the trophy (2019), so I know he's going to be up for it and I am certainly".

Littler added: "We've played 12 or 13 times this year, we know how each other can play.

"And I'm going to say it again, It's the World Championship final - anything can happen.

"So whoever turns up the best tomorrow wins".

  • Littler not getting carried away

Luke Littler has insisted that he doesn't stop and think about his phenomenal rise in darts over the last 12 months.

Since bursting on the scene at last year's World Championship, Littler has made consecutive Worlds finals, won Young Sports Personality of the Year and pocketed over £1MILLION in prize money.

But when asked if he ever stops to pinch himself at the crazy year, Littler remained focused on the job at hand.

He said: "Not really. You just have to focus on what is next.

"Obviously, when I'm at home I know what I've done. I know what I've done for my family as well. But this is all about the darts game."

  • MVG's prediction

Michael van Gerwen predicted the outcome of Luke Littler's semi-final during his post-match press conference.

MVG was quizzed on Littler's 6-1 win over Stephen Bunting while the tie was going on, and the Dutchman already knew that Littler would breeze to the final when the match was still its early stages.

Speaking to the media, he said: "100% it's [Littler vs Bunting] going to be amazing.

"But I've been looking a little bit to the darts and if Bunting keeps missing his doubles, like he is doing now, then it's going to be 6-1 as well."

  • The final we wanted

And it's on live from 7:30pm. You'd be a fool to miss it.

  • Fighting talk from MVG

MVG is a man on a mission at Ally Pally.

    He said:

I’m here with a mission and a target. You’ll always have ups and downs.

“I showed a lot of mentality. Even when things don’t go your way, I was still able to produce good stuff in the right moments.

“That gives me a lot of confidence. To win on this stage, especially in the semi-final, it means a lot to me. In front of this crowd and with my family watching.”

  • MVG reaction

MVG was so happy to get to the final, he dropped the F-bomb on Sky Sports.

    He said:

I can be happy with my performance.

"Of course, I wasn’t playing as explosive as I did in the last game. But I was efficient.

“When I had to do things, I did it in the right moments. That’s what you do if you want to win games.

“You have to tell yourself the title is far away. I don’t want to make mistakes. I want to keep battling for everything in my body. I love what I do and love performing.

“It’s my passion, it’s my life, of course after my family. I really enjoyed this.

“I’m only in the final. I have won f***-all yet. So, I need to make sure I do it in the final.”

  • Part tips Littler

Darts legend John Part is tipping Luke Littler to win the World Darts Championship.

He told Sky Sports: "It was similar to his quarter-final. A really good start to the match and he outplayed Bunting.

"Littler looks every bit favourite of the final and that won't change based on what we saw tonight.

"We can expect a wily veteran on Van Gerwen, who is determined to get the title.

"This is going to be a sprint from the start line for these guys to try and assert themselves."

  • Littler on what's changed in the last 12 months

“I don’t know! I’ve played a lot better. I’ve won plenty of titles leading up to this. That’s what we do.

“There are majors all year around and I can’t wait for tomorrow night.”

  • More from Littler

Littler sunk an awesome 84 checkout with the bull in the penultimate set.

    Speaking of it, he said:

It was a good shot. It just had to go.

"Stephen hit a 140 to leave tops and it’s even more special when you hit the bullseye."

  • Little reaction

It’s been an amazing tournament so far. People would say I was looking at the title throughout the tournament.

“After the first game against Ryan Meikle, I have just beat what was in front of me."

  • Match stats

  • Littler 3-1 Bunting (6-1 in sets)

Littler needs 126 for the match.

Bunting is out on 156, so will he set himself up.

    He does leave tops.

Can Bullet keep this going with a 150 plus checkout. He's missed the treble.

Tops goes for Littler and he wins! He's through to the final again! Amazing achievement from the teenager.

  • Littler 2-1 Bunting (5-1 in sets)

    Littler's gone fishing!

And he's reeled in that Big Fish!

Smiles from both players, as well as a high-five that was an epic way to win the leg for Nuke.
