My neighbour crashed into our car then drove off – her excuse was ridiculous given we’ve lived here for 3 years

A WOMAN has been left "massively fuming" after her neighbour crashed into her husband's car and drove off.

And what she found even more ridiculous was the excuse that the the neighbour gave after the hit and run.

She took to Mumsnet's Am I Being Unreasonable? thread to complain about the situation, as she wrote: "Where we live we have to park on the road with our 3 other neighbouring houses.

"We've lived here for a few years now and generally it's been fine but had a few minor issues with one neighbour (not parking related).

"But all fine, nothing to fall out over and I always say hi."

She continued to reveal that in the morning, her husband was "just about to go to work when he witnessed said neighbour drive into his car then drive off".

When her husband called the neighbour, she said "she didn't know it was his car".

"She obviously knows it's his f**king car as we've lived there for 3 years and there's only 5 cars that park there!

"Plus if she didn't know whose car it was (as she alleged) was she not going to leave a note?"

The crash "caused a lot of damage" and she admitted it's a "massive faff we don't need right now".

"I'm just so glad he saw it happen because if he didn't then we'd have thought someone driving past had done it and would have to fork out ourselves to repair it," she wrote, adding "we really don't have the money right now".

Concluding, she asked: "Am I being unreasonable to be massively MASSIVELY f**ked off with her?

I live in an ex council house - my neighbours complained about my ‘offensive’ front door & inspectors are coming round

"My husband is a lot more chilled than me and is just glad she'll pay for it but I'm fuming!"

People were quick to weigh in, with one writing: "You are of course not being unreasonable.

"The neighbour needs to pay. And needs to log the accident online with the police as well - if they don’t do it , you can.

"The problem is, people love to avoid all this to try and avoid insurance premium hikes , so try and settle it privately.

"Would they have ever even given you that courtesy? No. So get them to claim on their insurance."

"I would be raging!" another added.

"That’s absolutely disgusting behaviour on her part, I’d honestly not be able to look at her again.

"Nothing to do with hitting the car but driving off without leaving contact details and the BS about not knowing whose car it was, that’s terrible!"

"She’s a horrible cow, what a nasty thing for her to do," a third commented.

"Get onto your insurance and don’t accept any nonsense from her."

The woman then updated the post, explaining that when her husband went round to speak to the neighbour, she was "begging him not to contact insurance as apparently she's done this loads around the village (ie hit other people's cars)".

"Should she even be on the road??" she asked.

"It complicates matters that his car isn't worth much and it needs a fair bit of work (new bonnet, new grill and new radiator) so insurance will probably write it off.

"Whereas if she pays for the repair out of insurance he can just get it fixed.

"But I totally agree it needs reporting and her premiums going up.

"My husband is very relaxed and just wants a quiet life. Whereas I want f**king war, how dare she!!"
