Hollyoaks’ Twinnie-Lee Moore reveals co-star who pushed her to pursue country music

FORMER Hollyoaks star Twinnie-Lee Moore has revealed co-star Jorgie Porter pushed her to pursue country music.

The 36-year-old, who rose to fame as Porsche McQueen in the Channel 4 soap, revealed that she still speaks to Jorgie after relocating to Tennessee from York.

Twinnie, who has released her EP The Blue Hour (After Dark), left Hollyoaks in 2015 with her character dealing with sensitive story lines including child sex abuse.

Speaking about her friendship with Jorgie, who plays Theresa McQueen, she said: “It was such an interesting time to be at Hollyoaks, I had such a heavy story line.

“But it made me realise that I needed to be doing music. I remember playing Jorgie one of my songs, and she was like, ‘What are you doing here? You need to be doing music!’

“She’s just amazing. It feels like every time I see her it’s like no time has passed.

“She was so encouraging. I’d not really played any of my songs to anyone but she was just so supportive. It was a very special time. I’ll come back if Porsche can do an episode from Nashville!”

Meanwhile Twinnie-Lee, who is returning to the UK for a homecoming gig at Bush Hall on December 21, said that she is proud to be a role model for girls in her community.

She said: “There’s always a stigma I guess. There’s always going to be good and bad in every community.

“I am such a supporter of women, I love women. If you win, I win and I don’t ever want to be one of those women that make it harder for other women to reach their full potential.

“I’ve always been a big supporter whether that be acting or music. There’s such a love in this town and it doesn’t really matter where you come from, it's just about the songs and the music.”

She added: “In the way that Tyson Fury did with mental health, I have let that community know that it’s OK.

"I feel like there's a lot of synergy between Nashville and my community, there’s a lot of love, and being there for each other.

“Being a Romany traveller over here, it’s just one piece of me. A Gypsy is seen as very glamorous.

“I want to be a good role model and change the perception of our community. There are a lot of great things that our community does that people don’t mention.”
