Hong Kong engineer, 43, arrested after allegedly strangling girlfriend
The case came to light when the man on Saturday sought help from the manager of the company his girlfriend worked for, claiming she had been out of contact since Wednesday last week.
The company reached out to her family afterwards.
The victim’s elder brother and sister went to her flat to look for her on Saturday afternoon but no one answered the door. The brother then called a locksmith to open the door.
A report was made to police on Saturday evening after the 46-year-old was found dead in bed.
A source familiar with the case said crime-squad officers were tasked to investigate because suspected livor mortis was found in the body and injuries were also discovered in the head and neck.
The insider said suspicious bruising was also found on her face.
He said officers questioned her boyfriend as he behaved suspiciously during the investigation.
He said the man was arrested after a preliminary investigation suggested he strangled her due to relationship problems.
The Post learned the pair had been in a relationship for about a year.
Detectives from the Wong Tai Sin district crime squad have launched an investigation.
