Jonathan Monroe (@jonathankmonroe) shared the DIY skincare recipe in a TikTok video.

"This is not the same as Botox but it can create a temporary tightening effect, brighten your skin, and help with inflammation," he said.

In a pot, Jonathan added four tablespoons of $7 raw flaxseed to two cups of water and boiled the mixture for 15-20 minutes.

Once the flaxseeds were done boiling, a goopy gel paste was formed.

Jonathan explained that flaxseed contained vitamins that were beneficial when applied topically.

"Flaxseeds contain healthy fats and vitamin E so it is a healthy skin care product that you can easily make at home," he said.

For ease of use and style points, he transferred the paste into a syringe.

"This makes the application so much easier and kind of like Botox," he said.

"Then I just rub that in and let it sit for about five minutes and wash away.

"I'm always left with tight, bright, healthy-looking skin."

I say goodbye to dark circles and tired eyes with a 3-ingredient DIY - you already have what you need in the kitchen

A few commentators who were flaxseed experts shared tricks to get the most out of the ingredient.

Many warned against boiling the seeds in water, as it can destroy delicate fats in the seed.

"No no no. Don’t boil, just soak the seeds for 24 hours, strain, and use the gel on your face and hair," suggested one viewer.

"You don’t even have to boil it. Just leave in room-temperature water and place in fridge!" echoed another.
