People say my mom’s wedding dress was beautiful – I altered it now I’m told I ruined it and ‘an angel has fallen’
EVERYONE needs something borrowed at their wedding ceremony and one woman fulfilled the tradition with her mom's wedding dress.
Although she was proud of the way she altered the white gown, critics accused her of "ruining" it.
Sydney (@sydneywehby) showed off her vision for a new style in a video with over 60,000 TikTok followers.
The bride salvaged her mom's old dress from storage, lifting the large gown from its box.
She explained that she had an idea for repurposing the dress: "Giving my mom's wedding dress a second life," she said.
She tried on the intricate dress, with a full train and embroidery running down the sleeves and front.
As she twirled in the gown, she transitioned into the makeover she gave the dress, revealing that she had made it shorter and amended the sleeves.
She explained that the designer she hired stripped the gown of its embroidery and its sleeves, adding in new, sheer ruffled sleeves.
Although the bride couldn't have looked prouder in her borrowed dress posing in photos with her family, viewers were displeased.
Many took to the comments to share their strongly worded reviews.
"A part of me just died inside," said one viewer.
Others agreed that they much preferred the dress before the alterations.
"An angel has fallen," said one heartbroken viewer.
"Nah that was SUCH A GORGEOUS wedding dress, why? Just why?" said another.
"It was so beautiful and she made it look like a dress from Target," said a third.
