I did a ‘wild pregnancy’ with no doctor’s visits & planned to freebirth – labor’s as natural as using the toilet
A MOM has been slammed after revealing that she chose to give birth without any medical supervision.
She confessed that her “wild pregnancy” didn’t go entirely as expected.
The birthing story was screenshot from social media and shared on Reddit by the user Pinkturtle182, who had known the mom since high school.
BIG PLANS
She had kept her pregnancy a secret until she felt it was time to convince other expectant moms to follow in her footsteps.
“I’ve been doing what’s called a wild pregnancy, no doctor’s visits, no ultrasounds, just me trusting my body and my baby,” she said.
“I’ll be freebirthing at home when the time comes, no one will be present except my boyfriend so I’m ready to experience the beautiful and spontaneous unfolding of birth.

“We don’t know the gender and have no idea what our baby will look like.
“It’s going to be so special when we finally get to see the baby that’s been kicking me for so long.”
She said many people are “afraid” of their bodies despite the process of giving birth being “as natural as eating or going to the bathroom.”
Without citing any reputable sources, she claimed that birthing complications are rare and that not having a natural birth causes “trauma” for the baby.
She then attempted to convince people reading the post that they had been brainwashed into relying on doctors.
“Did you know that the United States has the highest maternal death rate in all the developed countries?” she said.
“And that we also have the highest rate of C-sections in the entire world?
“Doctors are incentivized to push interventions on women giving birth, they make money off women if they push drugs on them or scare them into a C-section.”
PLOT TWIST
Just weeks after the rant, the mom took to Instagram to reveal that her plan to give birth at home resulted in an emergency C-section.
She had a “beyond traumatic” experience when complications left her with no other choice but to get professional medical help.
“What happened to me was a prime example of why I wanted to avoid the hospital and prenatal care in the first place, but I knew that my situation had turned into an emergency and my choices were limited,” she said.
The mom said her daughter Luna was “safe and healthy” but her own body was in “terrible shape.”
“I developed an infection internally, not sure if it was from negligence on the surgeons’ part or from the stress of everything that happened to me,” she said.
How safe is giving birth in the U.S.?
According to the World Health Organization, the majority of maternal deaths in 2020 happened in low and lower-middle-income countries.
However, research published by The Commonwealth Fund reveals the U.S. has the highest maternal mortality rate among developed countries, including Canada, the UK, and Australia.
This is believed to be due to a shortage of maternity care providers such as midwives who are able to provide postpartum support.
There were 17.4 deaths per 100,000 live births in the U.S. in 2018, meanwhile, New Zealand had just 1.7 in the same year.
She praised her boyfriend for taking care of her and Luna and announced that she would be taking a break from social media.
“This has been simultaneously the best and worst week of my entire life,” she said.
BAD EXAMPLE
Redditors were quick to share their opinions on the situation with the majority of people arguing the mom put her baby at risk by not consulting with a doctor throughout her pregnancy.
“The free birthing community is f**king nuts,” one person said. “They’re so brainwashed, it’s horrible.”
“Insane to blame the doctors who saved her and her baby's lives for the postpartum issues, “ another commented.
“So oblivious to her own f**k up. No personal responsibility at all.”
A third commenter vented that the risk of complications could’ve been lowered if she had a midwife at her home birth or involved in prenatal care.
“Going in blind without help is nuts,” they added.

“I was a labor nurse and a NICU nurse. Things can go from really good to really bad so quickly with moms or babies.
“She is lucky to have a living baby.”
