‘Just disgusting!’ gasp horrified Netflix fans at ‘disturbing’ new crime documentary dubbed ‘the real life Gone Girl’
NETFLIX'S latest docuseries has been dubbed the "real life Gone Girl" and left viewers feeling "incredibly disturbed."
American Nightmare landed on the streamer's platform on Wednesday, and since its release, fans have urged others to hurry up and watch.
The three-part series is based on a case dubbed "the real life Gone Girl" and unravels the true story of Denise Huskins' abduction.
In 2015, an intruder broke into the California home of Denise and Aaron.
Denise was kidnapped by masked men, leading to suspicions falling on her boyfriend, but she later returned unscathed.
This led to the police and media refusing to believe that Aaron and Denise were victims, and instead, they were accused of lying to the public and wasting police resources.

The case has been compared to the best-selling novel Gone Girl, which was adapted into a hit film starring Ben Affleck and Rosamund Pike.
The movie follows author Amy Dunne, played by Rosamund, as she suddenly disappears, leading the police to suspect her husband Nick, played by Ben, is behind the disappearance.

Another added: "#AmericanNightmare on @netflix I was NOT expecting that! Absolutely heartbreaking and heartwarming at the same time."
A third wrote: "#AmericanNightmare on #Netflix what a wild story, eloquently told and brilliant production. The fact that no law enforcement officials were disciplined for shockingly bad investigative work is a disgrace.
"They'll protect themselves time qne time again and throw women to the wolves."
A fourth mentioned that they had heard the story from Mr Ballen, a YouTuber best known for his victim-oriented true crime stories and mysteries: “But seeing and hearing it from Denise and Aaron. It's so shocking and bizarre. What this man did to Denise is just disgusting."
Another followed it with: “#AmericanNightmare is a cry for help from American society and yet shows the courage of #DeniseHuskins.
"What happened to Det Mustard @VallejoPd & the @FBI agent Sesma involved? There are so many examples of this crime and poor policing in America. Hope these guys were prosecuted.”
As the story unfolds, it is revealed that the intruder drugged the couple and then abducted Denise for ransom.
When Aaron managed to break free, he contacted the police, but they didn't believe him initially, and he soon became a suspect in the case.
In American Nightmare, an audio clip of Denise surfaces on the day after her disappearance, proving she is still alive.
An elated Aaron begins to think that things are looking up when Denise returns to her childhood home two days after being kidnapped, but unfortunately, the media portrays Denise as a liar and refuse to believe that she was actually kidnapped.
