  • Blues looking to rub salt in wound

Chelsea could win 13 games in a row against the same opponent for the first time in their history.

Another defeat for Palace would also set an unwanted record for them, having lost the most games consecutively against one opponent.

There has not been a draw in 26 meetings since it finished goalless in the Premier League at Stamford Bridge in March 1995.

  • Poch voices views on manager pressure

Mauricio Pochettino was asked about his opposite number and the current spotlight on the under-performing manager:

I think nothing to say about Roy. Roy is my friend, I admire him. He is an unbelievable coach. He is working really well. When you lose one or two games in a row, you are always under pressure. But there is no doubt he is going to be successful with Palace.

  • Big names need big players

Crystal Palace will be looking to the likes of Eze and Ayew to put in a shift for The Eagles this evening.

Sadly, they will be without Olise for a few weeks, which will hurt them.

When both Eze and Olise have played together, Crystal Palace have looked capable of beating anyone.

Since the departure of talisman Wilfried Zaha the club have been crying out for someone to take over his mantle.

  • Palace drubbed in fiery derby

Despite the geography not suggesting that Crystal Palace against Brighton being a derby, the fans of both clubs do have a bit of hatred towards one another.

As a result, the avian derby as some call it, saw Brighton hammer the visitors 4-1 with Palace fans booing their own team off the pitch.

The negative atmosphere around the club at the moment will only be quelled with a series of wins, starting with tonight’s visit of Chelsea.

  • Fans not happy with Eagles’ ownership

Storms have been brewing in South-East London with Palace fans questioning the motives of the owners and current manager.

Roy Hodgson has been getting annoyed with banners deployed at games questioning the sanity of both during defeats.

Another loss this evening could be the straw that breaks the camel’s back and end the tenure of Palace’s veteran manager.

  • Blues looking to continue revival

After an impressive victory against Aston Villa in the FA Cup, winning 3-1 away from home, many have labelled this as their best performance of the season.

Mauricio Pochettino’s side will be looking to build on this, looking for all three points in tonight’s London derby.

The new regime under the Argentine has failed to take off so far, with fans and pundits questioning the position of the manager.

  • Welcome to Crystal Palace vs Chelsea

Crystal Palace welcome Chelsea to Selhurst Park, desperate to distance themselves from the bottom three with victory in this London derby.

Roy Hodgson was criticised when he brought an unfit Michael Olise on against Brighton as the winger is now facing weeks out with a thigh injury.

Marc Guehi is also out with a knee injury and will miss out on a reunion with his old club, while Cheick Doucoure, Rob Holding, Eberechi Eze and Jesurun Rak-Sakyi all join him in the treatment room.

Joel Ward is in with a slight chance of returning and could have to slot in at centre-back, Hodgson’s only other option is to play Chris Richards, allowing Adam Wharton to make his full debut after a baptism of fire at Brighton.

For Chelsea, Benoit Badiashile suffered a groin injury in the FA Cup game with Aston Villa and will not be fit for this London derby.

However, Levi Colwill and Trevoh Chalobah have returned to full training and Thiago Silva is available after sitting out the Villa game.

Marc Cucurella, Wesley Fofana, Reece James, Lesley Ugochukwu and Romeo Lavia are all still unavailable but more positive news is that keeper Robert Sanchez has resumed training but is not quite ready for competitive action.
