Middle East conflict live updates: UNRWA pauses Rafah aid operations, says there’s ‘nothing to distribute’

European countries, including France and Germany, issued statements in support of the International Criminal Court after its prosecutor said he would seek arrest warrants for top Israeli and Hamas officials.
In an incident quickly denounced by free-press advocates, Israeli officials seized reporting equipment from the Associated Press, shutting down its video feed of northern Gaza and saying that the wire service ran afoul of a new foreign press law that was used to ban Al Jazeera. A top Israeli official later said the equipment would be returned.
Robert O’Brien, who served as a national security adviser to former president Donald Trump, told Reuters in an interview in Jerusalem that the United States should sanction International Criminal Court officials who seek an arrest warrant for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, calling it an “irrational decision.”
At least 35,647 people have been killed and 79,852 injured in Gaza since the war began, according to the Gaza Health Ministry, which does not distinguish between civilians and combatants but says the majority of the dead are women and children.
Israel estimates that about 1,200 people were killed in Hamas’s Oct. 7 attack, including more than 300 soldiers, and says 282 soldiers have been killed since the launch of its military operation in Gaza.
