2024 is fast approaching, along with hopes of a new and peaceful year after months of havoc.

Unfortunately, things are never completely at peace in the eponymous village, particularly if Cathy Hope (played by Gabrielle Dowling) is involved.

This year, the teen caused trouble for herself and her family when she was revealed to be suffering from Premenstrual dysphoric disorder (PMDD).

The condition, known as a very severe form of premenstrual syndrome, led her to have troubling outbursts, even against her own father Bob Hope (Tony Audenshaw).

More Emmerdale

In scenes due on our screens, Cathy's behaviour takes another dangerous turn as she's keen to celebrate the New Year with her young friends.

To make matters worse, Cathy drags her twin brother Heath (Sebastian Dowling) down with her as the pair come up with a plan to get to a party in Hotten for New Year's Eve - and behind their father's back.

Later, while the adults are occupied at the B&B party, Cathy, Angelica King (Rebecca Bakes) and Heath take a joy ride in Wendy Posner’s car.

Meanwhile, at the party, Nicola King (Nicola Wheeler) wants the kids to help serve and her obedient husband Jimmy (Nick Miles) is sent to find them.

In the car, Angelica and Heath are flirting and they encourage Cathy to speed up.

Jimmy still hasn’t tracked them down and Bob is alarmed that Wendy's car is missing.

Before long, the B&B owner has extracted the truth from April Windsor (Amelia Flanagan) about the kids taking the car, and rushes to follow them to Hotten.

Nicola, on the other hand, is frustrated to be pulled away from the Chairman, to hear from Brenda Walker (Lesley Dunlop) that the kids have gone joyriding.

Elsewhere, Heath’s impatience at Cathy’s driving speed builds.

Horrifyingly, a near miss with another car doesn’t affect her resoluteness as she puts her foot down.

Could she turn into a killer?

Will the teens be found by their parents before it's too late?
