Experts at Gtech have shared a list of five affordable and low-maintenance flora that can do everything from banishing toxins within your living space to boosting your mood and energy levels.

LAVENDER

Lavender has been proven to reduce stress levels and improve sleep.

Having a few of these plants in your bedroom can be great for easing anxiety and brushing off the winter blues, say the Gtech pros.

They noted that it's a relatively inexpensive buy and easy to look after because it requires minimal sunlight.

SNAKE PLANT

Snake plants are also easy to look after and only cost around $10.

They can remove toxins from the air, according to Gtech, and they also produce ample oxygen which adds moisture back into your home.

They say that can help to "reduce your risk of illness."

Snake plants also require very little maintenance, so if you forget to water them for a week, they will still be fine.

ALOE VERA

Aloe Vera is another plant to consider buying during the winter, and it shouldn't cost more than $25.

The gel in it is a natural skincare agent that can help combat dry and irritated skin, as well as acne.

"To care for your plant, place it in a location that gets plenty of sunlight," the experts advised.

"You should also water it every two weeks only when the soil is dry, to prevent overwatering and causing root rot."

PEACE LILY

Gtech called the Peace Lily the "favorite-looking plant on the list."

Not only will it add moisture to a dry room, but they promised it can also absorb mold spores in the air.

They suggested keeping your plant away from doors and windows, as "it needs to be sheltered from draughts and kept out of direct sunlight."

Since it's a relatively nice large plant, it could be the centerpiece of any room for up to around $30.

GERBERA DAISY

Although it's the most expensive plant on this list, Gerbera daisies are the ideal plant to have in the bedroom, they urged.

According to Gtech, the sunny flower removes toxins from the air and produces oxygen at night, helping you to get the best sleep.

"The growth of these daisies can be started indoors, but when the weather begins to offer more sunlight, you may want to move them outside for a better bloom and greater longevity," they said.
