Shoppers devastated as Asda confirms it has discontinued popular chocolate treat ‘not stocked by other supermarkets’
SHOPPERS were left devastated after Asda confirmed it has discontinued a popular chocolate treat that is not stocked by any other supermarket.
Fans of the supermarket's OMV instant hot chocolate took to social media to demand answers after noticing the vegan-friendly drink had mysteriously disappeared.
One heartbroken shopper, Lorraine Weller, tweeted Asda’s customer service team on Thursday, pleading: "Hi, can you please tell me whether there are any plans to bring back your OMV instant hot chocolate? You were the only supermarket to do their own brand."
But her hopes were dashed when Asda confirmed the worst.
The supermarket wrote on X: “Hi there, I am sorry to tell you that the hot chocolate has been discontinued and is no longer on sale in our stores.”
The OMV hot chocolate range was a staple for vegan shoppers, offering indulgent flavors like Cinnamon Hot Choc Pearls & Mallows, Salted Caramel Flavour Hot Choc, and even a festive Cinnamon Hot Chocolate & Gingerbread Mug.

But now, fans will have to scramble to find alternatives, as the product is currently out of stock even on Asda’s website.
The OMV range, known for its vegan-friendly twists on classic comfort foods, has earned a loyal following, making the loss of this winter warmer even harder to swallow.
For now, fans will have to sip something else while mourning the loss of their go-to cup of comfort.
It comes after Asda discontinued its "best curry" perfect for a quick spicy snack.
A customer asked if the chain had rebranded its curry range, only to find the fan favourite Chicken Vindaloo is no longer on shelves.
They wrote on X: "I noticed you have rebranded your curry meals. Have you discontinued the chicken vindaloo?"
A representative for Asda then replied: "I am sorry to tell you that the chicken vindaloo meal has been discontinued and is no longer on sale."
Asda told us the Vindaloo was discontinued in 2023.
The Chicken Vindaloo meal was popular amongst curry lovers, with one shopper claiming it was the best she's had.
The woman, who goes by Julie on X, posted: "Just found Chicken Vindaloo from Asda.
"Best shop bought curry I've had and I've tried a lot.
"Pretty hot but tasty hot."
The supermarket giant also axed a popular dinner staple.
