Curiously, the duo were left in Sunday's Arc on Tuesday's latest confirmations stage.

It now it looks like just Los Angeles and Continuous will run for O'Brien in Europe's richest race.

Auguste Rodin, who won the Derby last year and was runner-up Economics when last seen in an awesome Irish Champion Stakes, is likely to be kept away for November's Japan Cup.

That will be his swansong and he will retire to stud after that.

Irish Derby winner Los Angeles is a big fancy for the Arc having run on strongly over 1m2f in the Irish Champion Stakes.

There's no doubt the mile and a half is his optimum trip and Paddy Power make him a 13-2 chance for the £2.5million first-place prize.
