  • Merino update

Arsenal are stepping up their efforts to sign Mikel Merino after seeing a bid rejected by Real Sociedad.

The Athletic report that talks are ongoing, with sporting director Edu in Spain this week in a bid to finalise the deal.

Personal terms are understood to not be an issue, but the Gunners will likely need to offload a player before or after signing Merino to accommodate him in their squad.

  • Sancho exit

Jadon Sancho is reportedly close to leaving Manchester United to join Paris Saint-Germain.

The winger’s exit is part of a proposed swap deal involving PSG midfielder Manuel Ugarte, according to The Independent.

United have already agreed personal terms with Ugarte but are not willing to meet the French giants’ £60million asking price.

The report adds that PSG also remain interested in signing Marcus Rashford before the window closes.

  • Brighton sign Gruda

Brighton have completed the signing of Germany under-21 international Brajan Gruda.

The 20-year-old midfielder joins the Seagulls from Mainz on a four-year deal.

Gruda becomes Fabian Hurzeler's sixth summer signing following the arrivals of Yankuba Minteh, Mats Wieffer, Ibrahim Osman, Malick Junior Yalcouye and Amario Cozier-Duberry.

  • Napoli eye double deal

Napoli are reportedly eyeing a double deal for a pair of Premier League stars.

The Serie A side are keen to sign Manchester United's Scott McTominay and Brighton midfielder Billy Gilmour.

McTominay has been in demand this summer, with interest from both Fulham and Galatasaray earlier in the window.

  • Bournemouth lead race

Bournemouth lead the race to sign Atalanta striker El-Bilal Toure, according to reports in Italy.

German side Stuttgart are also interested in the Mali international.

However, the Cherries are pushing to sign a forward to replace Dominic Solanke following his move to Tottenham.

Toure is expected to leave Atalanta on loan with an option or obligation included close to their £21.5million valuation.

  • Shaqiri available

Former Premier League star Xherdan Shaqiri is a free agent after leaving Chicago Fire.

The 32-year-old has terminated his contract with the MLS side by mutual consent.

He previously played in England for both Stoke and Liverpool.

  • Doue to join PSG

Paris Saint-Germain have won the race for French wonderkid Desire Doue, according to Fabrizio Romano.

The 19-year-old has been linked with a host of top European clubs this summer, including Bayern Munich.

He is now set to undergo a medical in the French capital this week, though, ahead of joining PSG from Rennes.

The report adds that a £51.5million deal had been agreed for Doue.

  • Ipswich in for Cajuste

Ipswich are close to completing the signing of Sweden international Jens Cajuste.

The Napoli midfielder saw a move to Brentford break down earlier this month.

Cajuste would become the Tractor Boys' seventh summer signing ahead of their Premier League return.

According to Fabrizio Romano, the Reds will immediately loan the 23-year-old to Bournemouth for the 2024/25 season.

The Euro 2024 star has already agreed personal terms with the Reds and accepted their plan to loan him to Bournemouth.

  • Anthony Gordon Liverpool advice

Newcastle star Anthony Gordon has been urged by Gabby Agbonlahor to push through a dream move to Liverpool as it “might not come again”.

    Agbonlahor told AceOdds:

I did some research on this and I think he's a Liverpool fan, isn't he? So, he's a Liverpool fan, he played for Everton, he's gone to Newcastle. I'm sorry, if you're a Liverpool fan and they come in for you, they win the Champions League, they're a more stable club.

New manager, new ideas, I think Anthony Gordon jumps at it. He didn't think twice before leaving Everton. He sort of forced that move through to Newcastle, if I remember.

The way Newcastle are at the moment, if I'm him I'm saying, 'Goodbye, let me go to Liverpool, they're my boyhood club'. He's a Scouser, he can go back home, it's a no-brainer, it's the club he supports.

I would go to Liverpool if I were Anthony Gordon, 100 per cent, because this offer might not come again.

  • Victor Osimhen transfer blow

Arsenal may be set for a major transfer blow amid their interest in Napoli superstar Victor Osimhen.

According to The Times, the Partenopei are ready to offer Osimhen to Chelsea in a swap deal for Romelu Lukaku.

The Serie A giants are said to value the striker at about £90million this summer.

The Blues are keen to receive £40m for Lukaku who is surplus to requirements at Stamford Bridge.

  • Chilwell future 'in doubt'

Chelsea ace Ben Chilwell is assessing his options ahead of the closing weeks of the summer transfer window.

Chilwell's Stamford Bridge future is in doubt just days before the start of the new season.

According to talkSPORT, the 28-year-old would not be blocked from leaving the Blues as he assesses his options.

Instead, the West Londoners are prepared to let him leave if they receive a suitable offer before the window closes on August 30.

Manchester United were previously linked with a move for the England international earlier this summer.

  • Merino offer ‘rejected’

Arsenal have seen their first official bid for Real Sociedad star Mikel Merino rejected.

According to Radio Marca journalist Yon Cuezva, Sociedad turned down the Gunners.

The two teams began formal talks and the North Londoners’ offer was made in the “last few hours”.

Negotiations are ongoing as Arsenal are still looking to reach an agreement.

  • Tottenham want to keep Moore

Tottenham want to keep wonderkid Mikey Moore this season - despite a raft of clubs keen to take him on loan.

Winger Moore, who turned 17 on Sunday, is viewed as one of the most exciting talents to come through the club’s academy in years.

He became the club’s youngest-ever player to play in the Premier League when making his debut in May’s 2-0 home defeat to Manchester City, aged 16 years and 277 days.

Ange Postecoglou wants to keep the pick Moore, around this term due to being so young.

It is thought at this stage of his development he would benefit more from staying put and learning from the senior pros and earning minutes here and there this term.

The logic is similar to how Pep Guardiola handled Phil Foden during the England star’s early years.

  • Almiron exit 'collapses'

Miguel Almiron's return to the MLS is officially off in a big blow to Newcastle's hopes of securing a new winger.

Charlotte FC had a bid rejected for Almiron earlier this week, and now they have walked away from the negotiating table after being unable to agree a fee with the Magpies.

The winger snubbed interest from Saudi Arabia earlier this year and is happily settled on Tyneside with his young family but he was open to a return to the States with initial terms on a contract with the North Carolina outfit agreed.

However, the Toon wanted almost double the amount that Charlotte had offered for the Paraguay international.

Charlotte made an opening bid of £7.8million, a figure way short of the £15.5m asking price set by the Tyneside giants.

Talks continued between the pair to try and strike a deal before the MLS transfer deadline closes tonight but the deal was deemed to be too high by Charlotte, who have now walked away from the transfer.

  • Vinicius' Saudi offer

Real Madrid star Vinicius Junior is set to be offered the biggest contract in sporting history by Saudi Arabia.

According to ESPN, the Saudi Pro League is preparing to throw money at Vinicius in an attempt to rip him away from the Santiago Bernabeu.

The figures are absolutely mind-boggling - nearly £300million per year, £25m per month, £800,000 per day and almost £10 per second.

Other stipulations are also included in the deal - which would run until 2029 and the forward would become an ambassador for Saudi Arabia's 2034 World Cup bid should he accept the deal.

Saudi Arabia's Public Investment Fund, who own 75 per cent of Al-Ahli, Al-Ittihad, Al-Hilal and Al-Nassr, have discussed the transfer with Real, but the Spanish champions do not want him to leave.

Real would also demand the Brazil international's £850m release clause.

A formal offer has not yet been submitted, but Vinicius is yet to dismiss the idea.

  • Jamie Vardy snub

Leicester star Jamie Vardy was offered the chance to reunite with Dean Smith this summer.

Shortly after winning the Championship, the Foxes lost manager Enzo Maresca and Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall to Chelsea.

They could have seen Vardy walk out of the exit door too had he accepted Smith's offer to join him at Charlotte.

I did text him [Vardy] and see if he wanted to come over to America.

I knew that it was going to be hard once he took Leicester back to the Premier League. [I love] His enthusiasm for the game.

He doesn't train as much as he used to, and he won't get as many minutes as he used to, but if he's used right he'll be really, really good [this season].

You saw the goals he scored in the Championship last year.

  • Liverpool may sell Endo

Liverpool are still open minded to selling Wataru Endo with Celtic keeping tabs.

The Scottish champions are believed to be huge admirers of Endo, who is thought to have slipped massively down the pecking order as the Reds' new manager Arne Slot is believed to regard Ryan Gravenberch and Stefan Bajcetic as better options.

And that’s put the future of the Japan international - who is thought to want to play first-team football this season - in doubt.

Marseille have already had a bid rejected for the midfielder this summer but they could go back in with a new offer before the summer transfer window closes.

L'OM are likely to face competition from Celtic boss Brendan Rogers who thinks securing the 31-year-old could help boost his side both domestically and in Europe.

But the transfer fee - thought to be around £15m - may put the Japanese star out of the Hoops' reach.

  • Set the Tone

Manchester United and Chelsea are considering a swoop for Brentford star Ivan Toney.

Arsenal, Tottenham, West Ham, the Blues and United are among the clubs that have already expressed an interest but they have all been put off by Toney's £60million price tag.

According to The Independent, the Red Devils and Chelsea could suggest a loan deal with an obligation to buy late in the window.

The striker's contract with the Bees is set to expire next summer and he currently has no willingness to extend.

Therefore, Brentford will have to sell the England international within the next few weeks or in January if they want to earn any money for him.

A loan-to-buy deal would be a way for Thomas Frank's side to earn a fee close to their valuation and allow potential Premier League suitors to comply with PSR rules.

  • Martin Zubimendi rejects Liverpool

Real Sociedad star Martin Zubimendi has turned down Liverpool's advances.

According to transfer insider Fabrizio Romano, Zubimendi has rejected the Reds just like he did with Bayern Munich and Arsenal in recent years.

The midfielder has decided to stay at Sociedad and is open to pen a new deal.

That is despite the fact the LaLiga's offer will be "way lower" than the Merseysiders' proposal this summer.

  • Felix wants Chelsea return

Atletico Madrid star Joao Felix has made it clear to Chelsea he wants to make a surprise return to Stamford Bridge this summer.

The Blues are keen to re-sign Felix in a deal which could be worth around £40million.

According to The Telegraph, the playmaker has also indicated his desire to return to the Premier League.

Atletico are understood to value the Portugal international at around £43million but it’s thought the West Londoners could land him for less as Atleti need to sell players.

The 24-year-old is also reportedly willing to take a significant pay cut to go back to Chelsea.

According to transfer insider Fabrizio Romano, Felix's agent Jorge Mendes is still in London negotiating his potential return and talks remain ongoing,
