Two dead as gunman shoots nine at Mad Butcher grocery store in Fordyce with shots heard in chilling video

COPS have swarmed a grocery store in Arkansas after a gunman opened fire killing two and leaving eight others, including a police officer, wounded.

Police have shut down the area around Mad Butcher supermarket in Fordyce, about 70 miles from Little Rock, on Friday around 11:30 am.

Arkansas State Police revealed at least seven civilians were injured in the shooting, and one law enforcement officer also suffered non-life-threatening injuries.

The two victims killed in the shooting have not been identified.

The unidentified shooter was shot and critically injured during the incident.

They have been taken into custody by police.

At least 11 gunshots were heard in a video post on X, formerly Twitter, from the scene which appeared to show someone lying on the ground, the X.

Dozens of cars lined the street as police rushed to the Mad Butcher, according to another clip posted by a witness on X.

Sirens were heard as people watched ambulances and cop cars in the grocery store parking lot.

In a separate video, medical helicopters can be seen arriving at the scene.

It landed amongst the chaos as firetrucks blocked the scene, according to Arkansas Democrat Gazette.

Approximately two dozen holes were pictured in the window of a building as shattered glass covered the ground, according to a picture posted to X.

Dallas County Sheriff Mike Knoedel confirmed the shooting had been "contained," according to CBS affiliate KTHV.

A section of Highway 79-B and 4th Street has also been closed due to the shooting, according to Knoedel.

Arkansas Governor Sarah Huckabee Sanders said she had learned of the shooting and is in contact with police.

"I am thankful to law enforcement and first responders for their quick and heroic action to save lives. My prayers are with the victims and all those impacted by this horrific incident," she wrote in a tweet.

Arkansas Senator John Boozman said, "I'm heartbroken by the horrific violence in Fordyce and grateful for the courage and bravery of law enforcement officers and first responders.

"Cathy and I are praying for the victims of this senseless act."

The U.S. Sun has contacted the Dallas County Sheriff's Department and the Arkansas State Police for an update.

Fordyce is a small town of only 3,238 people near the heart of the state.
