My hair grew so much in a year – a ‘section’ method completely changed my life & my other tweaks made a huge difference
A WOMAN has shared top tips that helped her hair grow so much in a year.
She said one of them, the "section" method, completely changed her life.
Her other tweaks also made a huge difference to the condition of her glossy locks.
Abbey Yung (@abbeyyung) is a certified trichologist.
She has 1.1 million followers on TikTok where she shares her love of all things hair and skin related.
She put her words into action over the last 12 months and has transformed her hair.
From lackluster, dry hair a year ago, she now has long, glowing locks.
"How I grew long healthy hair in one year," she said in her post.
“These are the most important things I changed about my hair care routine that allowed it to grow," she added.
STOP BLEACHING
She's gone from platinum blonde to a more natural one.
“First I completely changed the way I colored my hair," she said.
"My hair used to be incredibly bleached from years of getting full foil highlights. This kind of blonde is always going to lead to extreme breakage.
"So I stopped doing that and started going for a much darker, more golden honey blonde," she said.
It has made a world of difference.
“It is so much easier to maintain healthy hair with this kind of blonde," she added.
APPLY HAIR CARE IN SECTIONS
This tip alone had been transformational for her mane, she figured.
“Applying hair care in sections completely changed my life," she said.
She does this with every single hair product.
"I never apply a hair mask or a leave-in conditioner just all at once to my hair," she said.
“I always split my hair into sections and apply it that way so I know my hair is evenly protected."
SOFTER HAIRSTYLING
She's gone for a more low-maintenance way of styling her hair and it's kinder too.
“I started prioritizing styling my hair extremely gently instead of it being perfectly styled," she said.
“So I almost always opt for heatless curls instead of a hot curling tool, and I always wear it in low loose styles instead of being a tightly pulled high hairstyle."
HAIR DRYING METHOD
Drop the heat, it's no good for healthy hair, she said.
“I changed the way that I dry my hair. So instead of using a hair dryer for the entire drying process, I’d let my hair dry 80% to 90% of the way and then finish up with the blow dryer," she said.
Commenters found her tips helpful.
“The new color is gorgeous too. I think it gives a lot of dimension,” said one person.
“Your advice is helping me rebuild strength in my postpartum hair," was the grateful response from another.
“I love this so much, so helpful," said a third person.
“Agreed on hair highlights. That’s the key," figured a fourth person.
But another person admitted they were going to find one habit hard to break.
"I want healthy hair but I'm addicted to the bleach, unfortunately."

But Abby said she should still give it a go.
"These tips will still make a big difference," she said.
