Forget washing up liquid, a £13 Wickes buy gets rid of black mould for good – I’m a damp expert & it’s my essential item
IT'S one of the hardest things to get rid of - with many people turning to bleach to try and bid farewell to black mould for good.
But one damp expert has insisted that's the worst thing you can do, and there's a £13 Wickes buy that's his essential item.
"If you've got issues with condensation and black mould all over your bathroom, if it's all over your kitchen, it's going into your room and you want a quick fix," Sam began his TikTok video.
"The cheapest, best value for money on the market at the minute is a thing called fungicidal wash."
You can get four litres of the wash for just £13 from building store Wickes.
"Pour it into a container - you can either apply it by a spray brush or a sponge," he continued.

"You put one coat on and you leave it for a bit, and then you get a warm bucket of water, you put your sponge in and then you clean it off.
"Then you put another coat on and leave it until it's dry."
The reason that the fungicidal wash is so effective is that it contains benzalkonium, which is "what you need in a mould or mildew cleaner".
"These big supermarket brands - they've got sodium in and once you've sprayed it onto your wall, they'll absorb moisture and it'll come back quicker," Sam continued.
"But if you use this Wickes one, it's got 1.5% benzalkonium in, you can't go wrong.
"It's good stuff.
"We use every type of special solutions for for different mould, but for black mould, this is one of the best value products on the market."
"We are in the condensation season and people want to know what we use to treat black mould," Sam captioned the video.
"One is great value for money and is easily accessible.
"Always follow manufacturers instructions."
"Just use bleach much cheaper," one person wrote in the comments section.
With Sam replying: "No it’s sodium based causes issues and it to return quickly."
"How about vinegar plus baking powder?" another asked.
"Baking powder is sodium based," Sam responded.
"Thank you bigtime mate. Will go to Wickes tomorrow," a third commented.
"Great , treat the source long term," Sam replied.
"Just checked my cilit bang mould remover, sure enough sodium based, used it a month ago and it came back 3 x worse," someone else wrote.
With Sam replying: "Loads are sodium based!"
