Bargain Hunt star Charles Hanson ‘promised wife he’d “never lay a finger on her again”‘ nine days before arrest
BARGAIN Hunt star Charles Hanson promised his wife he would never lay a finger on her again days before his arrest, a court heard yesterday.
The BBC star, above, allegedly messaged it to Rebecca on June 5 2023, before adding: “Let’s just give it a go, we have been through a lot in 13 years.
“Let me show what a good husband I can be.”
But she replied: “You’ll never change.”
When the auctioneer, 46, asked for a two-week cooling off she said: “Past that point I’m afraid.”
She later texted she wanted to separate after he “pushed her too far”, Derby crown court heard.

Her mum, Jacqueline Ludlam, said the marriage was normal initially but Hanson’s outbursts became more frequent.
She told the court: "She had been telling me she was scared of him and she had got to get away from him.
"It was not very practical for her to leave."
The star, of Mackworth, denies assault and coercive behaviour from 2012 until his arrest on June 14, 2023.
Trial continues.
