Shoppers race to their nearest supermarket for ‘mega strong’ suitcases scanning for just £19.50 at tills
SHOPPERS are racing to their nearest Asda for a bargain holiday buy - and it's even cheaper than Primark.
An eagle-eyed customer spotted the hard-shell suitcase on offer at their Irvine branch in Ayrshire, Scotland.
The "high impact, mega strong" cabin case with wave design was originally priced at £39.
But it's currently scanning for just £19.50 at tills.
That works out as £8.50 cheaper than Primark's £28 hard-shell suitcases.
The four-wheel Asda case is a classic cabin size - 54.5cm - but has a "handy expander system" that allows for 25% extra packing space with a total capacity of 47L.
Supermarket bosses said: "Wavelet from it Luggage gives you beach waves before you've reached the airport.
"Its characteristic embossed ABS shell provides the ultimate protection for your belongings without compromising on style."
And savvy shoppers are racing to get their hands on one of the suitcases after a bargain-hunter shared a picture of them on the Extreme Couponing and Bargains UK Facebook group.
Tagging a friend, one pleaded: "If you see, can you try grab me one please?"
Another echoed: "If you see this will you get me one?"
While a third chimed in: "This could be good to look out for."
They're set to be satisfied customers if they do get hold of one too, as the suitcase has nothing but five-star reviews on Asda's website.
One happy shopper said: "Lovely colour, very sturdy and survived a plane trip to Spain."
Another review read: "Perfect size for a night away or we even managed 2 nights for 2 adults and 4 kids in it albeit shorts and tshirts but the full expander is very helpful."
And a third added: "This little suitcase is PERFECT! It held much more than I expected and it is sturdy, easy to glide and looks SUPER fashionable. Love, love, love the colour too."
Unless you have an ego to stroke, don’t bother with something fancy
Hotel concierge
Your suitcase style can say a whole lot about your emotional baggage, according to one seasoned concierge.
After two decades in the travel industry as a hotel porter in Australia, the UK, and Canada, Raymond Thew has pretty much seen it all.
And he insists some luggage styles scream you have a huge ego.
Speaking to The Guardian, he said: "I used to have a manager who dealt with complaints regarding luggage, with the guests demanding compensation for damage to their Louis Vuitton or Gucci bags.
"She would let the guest know that the luggage had done its job and therefore no compensation would be offered.
"Her point was that your suitcase is an item for holding your clothes while you travel. That’s it. It is not an accessory in and of itself.

"So, unless you have an ego to stroke, don’t bother with something fancy. You’re better off with something cheaper that does the same job.
"All bags will be tossed around a bit and put where they fit by airport and hotel staff. Beyond that, no one is judging. Certainly not your porter."
