THIS Morning's Alison Hammond and Dermot O'Leary introduced viewers to the show's new hoovering expert today after Matty Locke's tragic death last year.

The 19-year-old, who won a huge following reviewing hoovers on the ITV show, sadly died on September 8.

He was found dead in his summer house after taking his own life, an inquest was told in October.

Today, Alison and Dermot welcomed newcomer Grace onto the This Morning set, and the consumer expert shared her favourite hoovers of 2024.

But some watching at home were left feeling emotional as the segment returned for the first time and they took to social media to remember Matty.

One said: "Shame @thismorning didnt mention Matty Lock the young 19 yr old that use to do the hoovers on this morning as a bit of a tribute who died only September last yr."

Another said: "I can't watch the hoovering bit without a tear in my eye! #ThisMorning RIP Matty Lock Would be nice if they do a in reference at the end of the programme!!"

Tributes flooded in for Matty after the heartbreaking news was announced.

This Morning paid tribute to Matty last year when they released a statement following his death.

They said: "Everyone at This Morning is shocked and saddened to hear of the passing of Matty Lock, aged just 19.

"He was a delightful young man, a joy to work with and his passion for vacuum cleaners and general mechanics was infectious.

"His family came to the studio and they were so proud that he’d turned a childhood hobby into a career. We will miss him and send our condolences to his family.”

Holly Willoughby, who presented the show at the time, also shared a photo of the late presenter on her Instagram.

She said: "So shocked and saddened to hear the news today. Matty was a wonderful person with a true passion for what he did…

"My love goes out to his friends and family at what must be a very difficult time."

As well as his role on This Morning, Matty was also a member of the Labour Party in Sefton and Merseyside.

He had been elected town councillor in Maghull shortly before his death.

At the age of two developed a passion for vacuum cleaners after getting a toy Henry.

By the age of 13 he had a collection of 150.

Matty had a YouTube and other social media accounts under the name The Vac Mat.
