Manchester United's Ruud van Nistelrooy leaves role as interim head coach
Manchester United's Ruud van Nistelrooy has left his role as interim head coach, the club have announced.
His last game was a 3-0 Manchester United win over Leicester City at Old Trafford on Sunday.
He's being replaced by Ruben Amorim, who arrived at the club's Carrington training complex today, Manchester United said.
The club praised Ruud in a statement saying he "is, and always will be, a Manchester United legend.
"We are grateful for his contribution and the way in which he has approached his role throughout his time with the club. He will always be very welcome at Old Trafford."
Amorim, 39, was greeted by chief executive Omar Berrada, sporting director Dan Ashworth and technical director Jason Wilcox as he arrived in Manchester this morning following a flight from Beja, Portugal.
The new coach's first game in charge will be against Ipswich Town on 24 November. He will be meeting key staff before he obtains his visa and can start working.
Amorim, who was previously in charge of Portuguese club Sporting, has signed a contract until June 2027, with the option of a further year.
