    The player has joined Marseille in a deal worth up to £30million.

    United also have a buy-back option on Greenwood but the chances of this being activated by United are described as 'slim' by The Telegraph.

    Man Utd were recently credited with an interest for Ivan Toney.

    However, Thomas Frank admitted he won't come cheap.

    Asked if Toney could stay with the Bees, Frank said: "You never know. He’s a Brentford player and I would love him to stay. That would give me a very positive challenge.

    “But I haven’t met a coach who doesn’t want as many good players as possible. Right now, Ivan is a Brentford player. I would be more than happy if he stayed with us. He’s a goalscorer and that’s very good to have in your team so if you want to buy him, it’s expensive.”

    Leny Yoro has been praised by Andre Onana, following an impressive display on his debut in a friendly against Rangers.

    “When you have the opportunity to be a Manchester United player that’s when you have a lot of quality," Onana said after the game.

    “He wants to stay, he’s only focused on Man United. We already spoke about that with the club”.

  • Ex-Utd flop plans move

    DUTCH frontman Wout Weghorst plans to leave Burnley again.

    The 6ft 5in targetman is due back at Clarets following a loan spell in  Germany with Hoffenheim and some brief appearances for Holland during the Euros.

    New Turf Moor boss Scott Parker would be happy to work with the former Manchester United loanee.

    But the signs from his camp are that the 31-year-old is keen to play at the top level elsewhere.

    Weghorst joined Burnley from Wolfsburg for £12million in January 2022, going on to score two goals in 20 matches.

    Following their relegation from the Premier League, he spent the next six months on loan at Besiktas.

    Weghorst scored nine goals in 18 outings for the Turks.

    But his spell was cut short when United moved for him in January 2023.

    The striker ended up playing in a No10 role under Erik ten Hag.

    And Weghorst scored just two goals in 31 outings before returning to Burnley.

  • No Amrabat move

    Manchester United have informed Fiorentina they do not plan to sign Sofyan Amrabat permanently.

    The Moroccan midfielder spent last season on loan at Old Trafford, with the club holding the option to buy him.

    However, TMW report the 27-year-old has now returned to Fiorentina training and is available for their pre-season fixtures.

    Amrabat made 30 appearances across all competitions during his United loan spell.

    Matthijs de Ligt could still join Manchester United, according to Bayern Munich president Uli Hoeness.

    He told AZ: "It is possible that a defender will still leave.

    "De Ligt is dutch, the coach at Man Utd is Dutch. I would have no problem if he stays."

  • Medical heartbreak

    Shrewsbury goalkeeper Toby Savin missed out on a dream move to Manchester United after failing his medical twice.

    The 23-year-old had been wanted as the Red Devils' third choice stopper behind Andre Onana and Altay Bayindir.

    He failed his first medical in January, before suffering the same fate following his exit from Accrington earlier this summer.

    Instead, Savin signed for League One Shrewsbury, penning a two-year deal with Salop.

  • Mata return

    Juan Mata has made a shock return to football after six months without a club.

    The former Manchester United midfielder has been a free agent since leaving Japanese side Vissel Kobe in January.

    However, the 36-year-old is now training with FC Nordsjaelland in Denmark.

    He was even pictured with ex-Chelsea team-mate Michael Essien, who is the current assistant manager, during training.
