Команда GOG анонсировала программу по сохранению старых игр

Команда GOG представила инициативу GOG Preservation Program, которая призвана обеспечить играм «вечную жизнь». Данный анонс разработчики приурочили к шестнадцатому дню рождения магазина.

С сегодняшнего дня в GOG существует специальная маркировка для игр, которая сигнализирует сразу о нескольких вещах:

Тайтл совместим с современными ПК, контроллерами и разрешениями.
Компания собственными силами выкорчевала из него критические баги.
GOG обязуется поддерживать совместимость отмеченной игры с современными системами в течение длительного времени. «Мы гарантируем, что они работают и продолжат работать», — заявили специалисты.

Компания уже улучшила 100 игр, среди которых Heroes of Might and Magic III: Complete, Resident Evil, System Shock 2, Myst Masterpiece Edition, Vampire: The Masquerade — Bloodlines и другие. Каждую игру с пометкой Good Old Game оснастили списком внесённых в неё изменений по типу поддержки облачных сохранений, дополнительных локализаций и так далее.

Одной из наших главных миссий с самого начала было сохранение видеоигр. На протяжении более 15 лет именно это двигало нас вперёд. Однако 2024 год наглядно продемонстрировал, насколько важна эта инициатива — и насколько важна наша роль в её продолжении, как показало восстановление Alpha Protocol и оригинальной трилогии Resident Evil.

Как отметили в GOG, со временем список GOG Preservation Program будет пополняться «как проектами из существующего каталога, так и новыми добавками».
