    LIVERPOOL are ready to join the bidding battle for England star Marc Guehi.

    New Kop boss Arne Slot is keen to rival ­Newcastle — with Crystal Palace ready to demand £75million for the England centre-back.

    Dutchman Slot could also lose Guehi’s Three Lions team-mate Joe Gomez as part of a mega deal to land Magpies forward Anthony Gordon.

    Toon have yet to make a formal offer and Liverpool are waiting in the wings to find out the price while trying to avoid an auction.

    Guehi, 24, was a standout star for England at Euro 2024 and Palace will have little option but to sell if the right offer comes in.

    He has two years left on his deal at Selhurst Park.

    EDDIE HOWE has issued an update on Newcastle's transfer business amid reported Marc Guehi talks.

    The Magpies allegedly opened talks with Crystal Palace over a potential move for Guehi this week.

    But manager Howe admits he is unaware of what exactly is happening in negotiations.

    Speaking after Newcastle's shock 2-0 defeat to Yokohama F Marinos on Saturday, he said: "Our efforts in the transfer market are ongoing.

    "I'm out of touch with all of those movements.

    "I know we're trying. Hopefully, we can bring you news soon. I'm not going to talk about individual deals."

    Manuel Ugarte is still waiting for the green light to join Manchester United, Fabrizio Romano reports.

    According to Foot Mercato, the French giants have offered Alvarez a contract.

    City are understood to want at least £80million for the 22-year-old this summer.

    Nico Williams has rejected the chance to join Paris Saint-Germain from Athletic Bilbao, according to SPORT.

    The French giants had been keen to sign the 22-year-old as a replacement for Kylian Mbappe.

    Noussair Mazraoui is set to fly to England to complete his move to Manchester United in the coming days.

    According to Foot Mercato, an agreement has now been reached with Bayern Munich to sign the 26-year-old full-back.

    The German giants have given Mazraoui permission to travel to Manchester and finalise the deal.

    He has already agreed personal terms on a five-year deal with the option of a further year.

    Sara, 25, was withdrawn from the Canaries squad for Saturday's friendly against St Pauli.

    The deal, which also includes potential additional payments, will give Norwich a massive profit.

    Sara joined the Championship club two years ago from Sau Paulo for £6m.

    Roma and Leicester were also interested in signing him, but Galatasaray seem to have won the race.

    The Argentine forward has been linked with a move away from the Etihad Stadium and William Gallas believes he would be a “great signing” for Arsenal.

    Gallas told Genting Casino: “He is a world champion, Copa America winner, won the Premier League twice in a row and won the Champions League. 

    “He has played most of City’s important games and is a starter for Argentina, he would bring so much winning experience and… wants to reach his very highest level by playing as many minutes as possible. 

    “Alvarez would take Arsenal to the next level. I don’t know if he could score 20 goals but he can play on the flank or behind the striker and be very influential.”

  • Bayern turn down Man Utd

    Manchester United have seen a joint bid for Bayern Munich stars Matthijs de Ligt and Noussair Mazraoui rejected.

    De Ligt has not travelled with the Bayern squad to South Korea for their pre-season games, as he eyes an exit.

    Mazraoui, who also played under the Red Devils’ boss Erik ten Hag at Ajax, could come in to compete with Diogo Dalot for the right-back spot.

    The Manchester giants hoped their joint bid would be enough to secure the targets but the offer was rejected by the Bundesliga giants, according to The Athletic.

    It is not yet known how much was put on the table in order to snap up the pair, though United’s £30million bid for De Ligt was turned down last week.

    Agent Rafaela Pimenta, who represents both players, was reportedly shocked that Bayern changed their stance especially after new manager Vincent Kompany informed the defenders they were surplus to requirements ahead of the coming window.

    De Ligt and Mazraoui have reportedly agreed personal terms on five-year deals at Old Trafford.

    West Ham have agreed a deal to sign Argentine midfielder Guido Rodriguez.

    According to Fabrizio Romano, the 30-year-old is set to undergo a medical on Saturday before signing his contract.

    Rodriguez has been a free agent since leaving Real Betis earlier this summer.

    He had previously agreed to join Barcelona before the move collapsed.

    Juventus are continuing to push to sign Jean-Clair Todibo from Nice.

    West Ham had struck a deal for a loan with an option to buy earlier this summer.

    However, Juve remain in talks with Nice after seeing their opening loan to buy offer rejected.

    According to Fabrizio Romano, Todibo's preference is to join the Italian giants.
