Hong Kong teacher jailed for 2 months over installing camera in school bathroom
A Hong Kong secondary teacher was sentenced to two months in prison on Tuesday for installing a hidden camera in the washroom of a girls’ school.
Magistrate Tsang Chung-yiu also urged Kwok Tsz-kit, 34, to reflect on his actions and never to commit such crimes again.
In an earlier appearance at Kowloon City Court, Kwok pleaded guilty to four counts of voyeurism.
The court heard that the defendant had installed a hidden camera on two occasions and filmed two of the school’s students between September and October last year.
In mitigation, the defence argued that Kwok had made no attempt to evade responsibility and said the teacher’s behaviour was inconsistent with his past character.
The defendant submitted a background report stating he was not “his usual self” at the time of the offence. He also asked the court to consider his contributions to education when handing down his sentence.
But Tsang said that Kwok’s crime was more serious than other instances of voyeurism.
