DIY fan shares ‘perfect’ £3 Homebase hack for the best Christmas garland ever – you need to hit their bathroom section
A CHRISTMAS fan has revealed the £3 Homebase buy she swears by when doing her decorations - and it's from the bathroom section.
Alex Lawson, from Aberdeen, regularly shares her DIY tips on Instagram where she boasts 247,000 followers (@casalawson).
The savvy blogger urges people to "feel the fear and DIY it anyway" and insists her easy tutorials can help make your house a home.
And her Christmas decoration hacks are causing a frenzy on social media.
Alex, who now lives in London, revealed how to make the perfect DIY garland in your doorway using a tension rod.
She said: "Here's the perfect no drill solution for your garland this Christmas.
"You get a tension rod or shower pole, put it between the area you want to put it up then thread your garland round and put it up to your desired height.
"I picked up this tension rod from the bathroom section at Homebase and everything else I already had."
She added: "I then did some additional fluffing of the garland and started to add my decorations.
"Oh my gosh, look how it turned out. This is perfect.
"It's going to be so easy to take back down and I can't believe how great it looks as an entrance into our home."
Prices for tension rods in Homebase start from just £2.50, making it a very affordable hack.
And social media users are loving it, with Alex's clip racking up more than 116,000 views.
One said: "Okay I wanna remove one of our doors from its hinges just so I can do this."
A second wrote: "Absolutely stunning, it creates such impact."
"This is amazing, I’m definitely doing this", gushed a third.
But other social media users have pointed out one issue with the decoration hack.
"Very clever, but no good if you're 6ft 5", said one.
Meanwhile, another added: "Must have shorter people living there because my husband would be so frustrated ducking under that thing lol I wish I could do this."
In response, Alex joked: "My other half is already mad, he’s nicknamed it the chrimbo limbo."
Alex first became interested in DIY after she purchased her first home in September 2019.
The engineer, who was a finalist on Scotland's Christmas Home of the Year, previously said: "I am on a mission to inspire people to step out of their comfort zone, try new projects and create a beautiful home for themselves in the process."
Elsewhere, Christmas fans have raced to B&M for designer bauble and candle dupes – with prices starting from just £3.
