“As the leading bloc of the Global South, Brics countries should … strive to be a pioneering force in advancing the reform of global governance,” Li said in a speech at the Brics summit on Sunday.
The premier said member states should uphold independence, show a sense of responsibility and take greater action to build consensus and pool their strengths.
Brics nations must also stand firm in upholding justice while preserving global peace and stability, championing the peaceful settlement of disputes through solutions that consider the unique aspects of each issue and address underlying causes, he said.
Widely perceived as a direct challenge to the Western-led world order, Li called for improving global governance amid a countdown to the end of a temporary tariff truce with the US, which runs out on Wednesday.
