Israel-Gaza war live updates: ‘Nobody will stop us,’ Netanyahu vows, marking 100 days of war
The head of the Israel Defense Forces, Lt. Gen. Herzi Halevi, said the IDF had approved plans to “increase military pressure on Hamas,” focusing on the center and south of the Gaza Strip. “We are operating freely in Lebanese airspace,” he added in a warning to Hezbollah.
U.S. forces struck a Houthi radar site in Yemen early Saturday local time, U.S. Central Command said on social media. Last week, the United States and Britain hit dozens of Houthi targets in response to rampant attacks by the Iran-backed militants on international shipping vessels in the Red Sea.
A near-total internet blackout in Gaza continued into a second day, monitoring group NetBlocks confirmed to The Washington Post early Sunday local time. This is the ninth outage in the Strip since Oct. 7, it added.
Demonstrators around the world took part in a global day of pro-Palestinian rallies. Thousands of people gathered in downtown D.C., calling for a cease-fire in Gaza and a halt to U.S. aid to Israel. Marches also took place in London, Rome, Johannesburg and Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
The Committee to Protect Journalists called for “uncensored access to Gaza” for international media and investigators, saying in a statement that Israel must face public scrutiny for its “long standing record of impunity in journalist killings.” At least 82 journalists and media workers have been killed in the war, the CPJ said. The IDF says it “does not purposefully target journalists.”
At least 23,843 people have been killed in Gaza and 60,317 wounded since the war began, the Gaza Health Ministry said Saturday. Israel estimates that about 1,200 people were killed in Hamas’s Oct. 7 attack.
