Horror after newborn baby dies at home in Coventry as mum, 21, is charged with murder
A MUM has been charged with murder after a newborn baby died at a home.
The horror unfolded in Coventry last Wednesday as police were scrambled to the property.
They found the baby, who was believed to be a few days old, dead inside.
Jia Xin Teo has now been charged with murder and appeared at Coventry Magistrates' Court on Saturday.
The 21-year-old was remanded into custody to next appear at Warwick Crown Court today.
West Midlands Police said a post mortem was carried out on the baby but proved inconclusive.
A spokesperson added: "A woman has been charged with the murder of her newborn baby in Coventry.
"We discovered the baby - believed to be just a few days old - at an address in Raglan Street on Wednesday (6 March).
"Further tests will be carried out to establish the cause of the baby’s death."
