United targeting new right wing-back

Manchester United are sounding out alternatives to Sporting CP ace Geovany Quenda.

Ruben Amorim has used several different players in the position this campaign, but doesn't have a specialist who truly matches his 3-4-3 tactics.

United have identified Quenda as a target for the summer and have held talks with Sporting to try and reunite him with Amorim.

But, according to journalist Graeme Bailey, United officials are concerned that the 17-year-old might prove to be too expensive.

As such, the Red Devils have landed on another Primeira Liga wide man as a different solution, in Roger Fernandes.

The Braga star is two years older than Quenda and also has a very bright future ahead of him.

Fernandes has notched five goals and five assists in 44 appearances across all competitions this season.

Berta 'picks Gunners ahead of Man Utd'

Andrea Berta was reportedly on Manchester United's radar - before it's understood he agreed to become Arsenal's sporting director.

Edu is stepping down after five years in the role at the Emirates.

And it's claimed Berta, 53. was also interesting United as well as continental rivals like Paris Saint-Germain.

He held a similar role at Atletico Madrid for 12 years.

Red Devils face huge round trip in summer

United will face off against Premier League rivals in a pre-season tournament in the United States that will see them travel nearly 9,000 miles.

The Red Devils will try and shake off their dismal 2024/25 campaign across three US states, playing three Prem teams.

United will take on West Ham, Bournemouth and Everton in the Premier League Summer Series in July and August.

It will be the third year running that United have taken their pre-season preparations to the US.

Ruben Amorim's side will begin their tour with a 3,334-mile trip from Manchester to New Jersey, where they will face West Ham at MetLife stadium on July 26 - home of the NFL's New York Jets and New York Giants.

They will then board another plane to fly 782 miles to face AFC Bournemouth in Chicago just four days later.

That game will take place at Soldier Field, one of the oldest and most famous stadiums in the NFL and the home ground of MLS club Chicago Fire.

Following that, the Red Devils will then make another 714-mile trip to arrive in Atlanta another four days later.

There they will play their final match of the pre-season tour, facing Everton at the Mercedes-Benz Stadium.

Once they've faced the Toffees, United will then head back to Manchester in another 4,080-mile flight.

Keane fears Utd will get WORSE

Red Devils' legend Roy Keane fears United might not yet have hit rock bottom.

The Sky Sports pundit said: "The standards of the club have been dropping for a number of years, and have they reached rock bottom?

"Maybe there's a bit to go yet..."

Why Man Utd wear black

Manchester United fans are expected to don out black today ahead of the match with Arsenal at Old Trafford in their latest installments of protest against the club’s ownership.

Supporter group ‘The 1958’ is planning a demonstration against the Glazer family and United part-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe.

The fans will march to Old Trafford before the game, beginning at 3.15pm GMT from the Tollgate Pub near the stadium.

They will go down to Man Utd’s Trinity monument and Old Trafford’s Munich Tunnel.

The organisation hopes it “could be one of the largest ever protests” in the club’s history.

Manchester United are keeping tabs on Crystal Palace star Jean-Phillippe Mateta and are considering a shock summer swoop.

United boss Ruben Amorim admitted following their FA Cup penalty loss to Fulham that his side is suffering from a goalscoring problem, which means securing a striker in the summer has become a priority.

Top of the transfer list is Viktor Gyokeres, who is Amorim’s former centre-forward at Sporting Lisbon.

But despite Gyokeres being keen on the premise of a reunion with the Portuguese head coach, he’s pushing for a move to a Champions League team.

Mainoo is said to be open to a move abroad in the upcoming summer market.

The United brass initiated talks over a new deal last year, although they’ve yet to bear fruit, and the midfielder has two years left on his existing deal at Old Trafford.

But according to reports, the England international is willing to end his spell with the Red Devils and move on to pastures new.

That’s according to The Guardian, who report the 20-year-old is open to the idea of playing in a competition abroad.
