Making a 2 to 3-inch mistake while decorating can totally throw off your interior design – my ’57’ rule has a big impact
IF something about your decor feels off, chances are it's your wall art.
An interior designer has shared the two common mistakes people make when hanging pictures or mirrors.
In her video, Pamela (@refinedambiance) revealed her tips for elevating your home decor.
"There’s a reason why, after you’ve decorated your living room, something just feels off about the space," the TikToker said.
"It’s because you’ve made one of these two mistakes when hanging artwork."
First, Pamela addressed hanging your wall art at the wrong height.
"It may seem like it’s not a big deal but I promise you, just by hanging your artwork two or three inches too high, it can totally throw off the interior design," she explained.
She advised her followers to take measurements before hanging their wall decor.
"One key thing I want you to remember when it comes to hanging your artwork is to place the center of the artwork 57 inches from the floor," Pamela said.
She also highlighted the importance of choosing the right size art for your space.
"Artwork that is too small for the room can make the entire space feel like it is out of scale and off balance," she told her audience.
"The one thing I want you to remember when it comes to selecting the right size artwork for your space is this, try to fill two-thirds of the wall space with your artwork."
She explained that this rule ensures that the artwork highlights the space without taking over.
"Using these art hanging tips your home will feel more cohesive and put together," Pamela said.
Another interior design enthusiast shared the three features worth avoiding in your home.
