Transfer news LIVE: Man Utd interested in Nkunku as Chelsea eye Garnacho, Rashford ‘dealt Barcelona blow’, Cunha battle

  • Brighton hold talks over Ferguson

Brighton held talks on Thursday over whether striker Evan Ferguson can leave on loan this window.

Tottenham, who are without Dominic Solanke for six weeks, Everton, Bournemouth and Fulham have all asked to be kept informed of developments over the Republic of Ireland international who was valued at £75million when he emerged on the Premier League scene in 2022-23.

However, he has not been pivotal to Fabian Hurzeler's plans and has found himself on the periphery of the first team making just 14 appearances in all competitions this season and predominantly from the bench.

He is eager to get more regular game time and Brighton will consider loaning him out if they believe they have enough cover with Joao Pedro, Danny Welbeck and Georginio Rutter their go-to forwards.

West Ham and Arsenal are also among Ferguson's admirers.

  • Potter seeks to raid former club

West Ham are also considering a move for Brighton defender Adam Webster, writes Jack Rosser for SunSport.

New boss Graham Potter is keen to bolster his backline this season with the Hammers conceding far too many goals.

Potter, who replaced Julen Lopetegui earlier this month, signed Webster for Brighton in an £18million deal in 2019.

There has been long-standing interest in the 30-year-old from West Ham who considered a move during David Moyes’ time in charge.

  • Jhon Duran attracting Saudi interest

Saudi Arabian club Al-Nassr are preparing an official offer for Aston Villa striker Jhon Durán, according to The Telegraph.

Earlier this week Villa rejected a bid from West Ham worth up to £57 million including add-ons – a club record for them – with sources saying the offer was turned down almost immediately.

Durán has recently signed a new contract, committing to Villa Park until 2030, and the Villans are believed to want £85m to let Duran leave.

  • Chelsea offer pair to Everton

Chelsea have offered Everton midfielders Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall or Carney Chukwuemeka if they are going to take back Armando Broja.

Everton want to end Broja’s season-long loan at Goodison Park because the Albania striker will be sidelined until April with an ankle ligaments injury.

The Blues want to free up his loan slot to sign another forward to boost their flagging firepower and Chelsea are reluctant to just accept Broja back. They want Everton to take another of their surplus players on loan and have offered them Dewsbury-Hall or Chukwuemeka.

  • Aston Villa join Cunha race

Wolves forward Matheus Cunha continues to attract major Premier League attention with Aston Villa the latest club to be monitoring his situation.

Nottingham Forest, Chelsea, Arsenal, Tottenham and Manchester United are all said to be keen on the Brazil international, with Villa now contemplating joining the chase.

However, it is understood Villa would look to move a player out before committing to a swoop for Cunha to ensure they stay well within profit and sustainability regulations.

  • Celtic move for Villa star

Celtic have reportedly made their move to sign Aston Villa youngster Louie Barry on a permanent move.

The two clubs have held talks although Villa are reluctant to sell the star, with a loan move more likely.

Several Championship clubs have also been linked including Derby and Leeds.

  • Man City could buy more

Pep Guardiola has hinted at further signings following the arrivals of Omar Marmoush, Abdukodir Khusanov and Vitor Reis.

He said: "Yeah, maybe. I don’t know. We are where we are, it’s fine. In normal circumstances we delayed because we were the champions for so many years, and being so consistent in many situations.

"What happened happened. We didn’t expect it, and we decided instead of doing business in the summer, we would do it now.

"What’s going to happen next? I don’t know. We will see. "

Middlesbrough have completed an £8million deal to sign the wantaway winger.

Whitaker reportedly failed to turn up to play for the Pilgrims against Burnley on Tuesday despite being available for selection.

  • Man Utd consider shock move

Manchester United are reportedly weighing up a potential move for £70million-rated Christopher Nkunku.

Bayern Munich are understood to be contemplating offering the former RB Leipzig hitman a return to the Bundesliga.

Chelsea have reportedly not made a decision on the future of Nkunku, which ESPN claim United want to be kept in the loop.

The Red Devils were reportedly keen on signing the France star when he was on the books at Leipzig.

Nkunku could be brought in as a potential replacement for Alejandro Garnacho, who Chelsea are understood to be interested in signing.

  • Walker confirms move to Milan

  • Arsenal chasing highly-rated wonderkid

Arsenal are working on a deal to sign midfielder Sverre Nypan from Rosenborg, according to The Athletic.

Dialogue between the clubs and with the player’s representatives is advancing, as Arsenal try to land the 18-year-old Norway youth international.

However, a firm decision on his future has yet to be made and no agreements are in place — meaning the situation remains open.

  • Man City eye Bayern star

Manchester City are ‘exploring a sensational late deal’ to sign Bayern Munich standout Joshua Kimmich this month, according to Florian Plettenberg.

He explained: “Joshua #Kimmich is taking his time deciding on a contract extension beyond 2025. Max Eberl is determined to keep him at Bayern. There is still concrete interest from England and Spain, notably from Manchester City and Barcelona.

“Liverpool, as confirmed by close sources, is not currently pursuing him actively, partly because the club is overstaffed in central midfield and focusing on other profiles. #LFC

“The trend points toward an extension with FC Bayern, especially as his family prefers to stay in Munich. Top player. Future captain.”

  • Villa name Duran asking prize

Aston Villa will consider offers for Jhon Duran amid interest from Arsenal and Chelsea – but only if they receive an astronomical bid.

Duran is one of the most sought after strikers in the world right now, with West Ham, PSG and Al Nassr among the teams hoping to sign him this January.

The Irons recently had a £57million bid rejected while Saudi Pro League side Al Nassr want the Colombian as a potential replacement for Cristiano Ronaldo who is out of contract at the end of the season.

However Duran could end up costing £85m, according to talkSPORT.

  • Arteta asks players for advice

Mikel Arteta is consulting his Arsenal stars on which striker to sign before the transfer window slams shut.

But with just over a week until the window shuts, Arteta appears no closer to bringing in a new face with key target Benjamin Sesko looking likely to remain at Red Bull Leipzig barring a hefty late bid.

The north Londoners have also been linked with moves for Alexander Isak, Dusan Vlahovic and Matheus Cunha.

Arteta says he “always” consults his players about potential incomings or specific individuals he is trying to bring to the club.

He added: “That’s getting us away from the computer and what the data is saying. It is real. I have seen it, I sense it.

“A player can score a lot of goals, great. How does this player react when he hasn’t scored for six or seven games?

"This is what I am interested in.

“So when you have a player that has spent a lot of days with [a transfer target], that is really valuable information to have.”

  • He's the One for Spurs

Tottenham are interested in signing Sheffield United star Ryan One, according to TBR Football.

Ipswich have also made an enquiry about the Scottish youth star, who could be knocked down the pecking order at Bramall Road after the arrivals of Tom Cannon and Ben Brereton-Diaz.

Scouts from RB Leipzig and RB Salzburg have watched One, while Brighton too have a long-standing interest.

  • Done deal - Brentford sign Kayode

Brentford have announced the capture of Michael Kayode on loan from Fiorentina.

The 20-year-old defender joins the Premier League club until the end of the season.

The Bees will have the chance to sign Kayode for £13.4m if he impresses at the Gtech Community Stadium.

  • Art attack

  • No Spain no gain

Marcus Rashford's potential loan move to Barcelona could fall apart - because of Aston Villa's transfer business.

The out-of-favour Manchester United star, 27, has been linked with a temporary switch to the Nou Camp but the club are struggling to afford his £325k-a-week wages.

According to ESPN, Barcelona were desperate for Celta Vigo's Oscar Mingueza to join Aston Villa earlier this month.

The Catalan giants retain 50 per cent of any future transfer fee the defender raises after selling him to Celta in 2022.

That deal never materialised, with Villa instead turning to Levante's Andres Garcia to shore up their defensive options.

But reports in Spain suggest the 24-year-old will jet in on Friday to finalise his LaLiga move.

But he has proved his fitness and quality at Leeds, netting five times in 22 appearances during the first half of the season.

SunSport understands Solomon, who joined Spurs on a free transfer in summer of 2023, is set to stay at Elland Road for the remainder of the campaign.
