‘That is fabulous’ shoppers gush about new Primark blazer that’s dupe for classic Chanel style… but over £1k cheaper
CHANEL’S tweed blazers have an eternal allure, with checks of all sizes being a statement design on the rough woollen fabric.
But with pre-owned versions being typically flogged at auction for £1,000 upwards, they’re not a style that many of us having knocking about.
The French fashion house has a rich history of iconic designs created by its founder, Gabrielle 'Coco' Chanel.
Coco played a significant role in popularising check design in womenswear during the early 20th century.
The pattern, which directors at the brand still recreate in its ready-to-wear collections, reflects Chanel’s original vision of creating clothing that empowered women.
But when you don’t have over £1,000 to splash on a tweed blazer, where do you turn?

Well, Primark for the dupes… of course.
The fashion giant’s Tartan Bouclé Structured Blazer has a similar texture to tweed with a large white and navy check design.
Described as “perfect for your all-occasions wardrobe”, the piece will set you back £36 - not a bad price for a jacket that looks like it’s worth a lot more.
“We don't have to tell you what a versatile staple blazers are in any smart-casual wardrobe,” Primark bosses said.
“But there's a lot to be said about the iconic nature of a tartan style such as this one.
“Made with a tartan bouclé fabric that creates timeless texture and depth, this blazer boasts a classic notched lapel, long sleeves, two rows of decorative buttons down the front."
“It is lightly tailored for a structured look," they continued.
“Whether you pair yours with jeans and a tee in a smart-casual style, pair it with the coordinating skirt and a blouse for formal occasions, or anything in between.
“We're sure you'll think of plenty of ways to wear this statement piece.”
Primark’s social media team took to Instagram to share a video of the jacket in action during Milan fashion week.
Liv Nash said that she was “obsessed” with it, while another shopper penned in the comments: “The jacket is fabulous.”
“But how nice is that blazer?” Michelle Kr asked.
Margaret Dolan simply called it an “amazing outfit”.
