But one foot doctor based in Ohio, US, has given the three worst shoes to wear - and Nike fans won't be happy.

Taking to social media, the doctor revealed the footwear brands she wouldn't advise her patients to wear.

Starting off with Nike Air Forces - although popular among many, she claimed these were no good for your feet.

And while we may all like to dress up won a night out the expert explained that our usual style of sky-high stilettos were horrendous for your foot health.

Specifically the foot doctor said pointed toe stilettos were to be avoided.

Lastly, she revealed that the increasingly popular brand Hey Dude shouldn't be worn.

In another clip, the specialists revealed exactly why Nikes were so bad for your feet.

She said: "You asked why we hate Nike so much, we destroyed a pair to show you."

In the clip, the foot doctor cut away the toe box of the trainer to show what they call 'the squish effect.'

"Here is the perfect view of my big toe and pinky toe getting squashed into this toe box," she explained.

"This can exacerbate forefoot issues, including bunions and hammer toes."

The foot doctor ended the video saying: "Do yourself a favour, and ditch the narrow Nikes."

The doctor also revealed exactly what she looks for when buying shoes to make sure they won't cause any damage.

She said: "The number one thing I tell my patients to look for is making sure that the shoe is not too narrow for your foot.

"The best place to check this is the toe box or near where your big toe joint is.

"If it's squeezing there, it's definitely not a good shoe for you."

She continued saying that most people need some arch support in their shoes so to go for footwear with this feature.

Lastly, the expert said stability of the sole should be taken into consideration.

"If you can fold your shoe over on itself, it's generally not the best choice for shoes that are being worn for long periods of time," she explained.

The clip has since gone viral on her TikTok account @ohiofootdocs with over 6million views and 300k likes.

But people were quick to take to the comments claiming they wouldn't be getting rid of their Nikes or Hey Dudes.

One person wrote: "You’ll have to pry my hey dudes off my cold, dead body."

Another commented: "You leave my Hey Dudes alone. I’m just a confused millennial that doesn’t know how to dress anymore."

"But my air forces are perfect for a wide flat foot," penned a third.

Meanwhile a fourth said: "I feel attacked with the Hey Dudes."
