My ‘sandwich method’ is amazing for dry hair – I tell my dermatology patients you can use conditioner a different way
A DERMATOLOGIST has shared their unique method to combat a dry scalp and hair - it's all about the products you use.
He revealed his sandwich method which he also teaches his dermatology students, and the items necessary to revitalize your locks.
Dr. Noman Mohamed (@drnomzzy) is a cosmetic dermatologist who also teaches others interested in the field.
When he's not teaching, he is sharing skincare and beauty tips that work from head to toe.
In a viral Instagram Reel, he revealed the step-by-step process behind his "sandwich method."
He described it as "amazing for dry" hair and was easy to follow.
The main ingredient is conditioner, but it's utilized in all four steps as a hair mask.
The first step is to wash the hair with water and apply conditioner all over the strands down to the end.
Next, don't wash off the conditioner and add shampoo on top of it to the scalp, before massaging it in.
In the third step, wash off both the shampoo and conditioner together.
Finally, coat the lengths and ends with conditioner again, and then wash it all off for the last time.
Not everyone was sold on the benefits of the beauty tip.
"My conditioner costs too much for these kinds of shenanigans," a viewer wrote.
"Hmmm I mean he's a doctor but not a cosmetologist because the full length of the hair needs to be shampooed not just the roots. It'll just leave your hair heavy and oily over time," another commented.
"Double waste the conditioner?" a woman added.
The medical professional has a similar sandwich trick for people who are starting to use retinol that uses moisturizer.
Dr. Mohamed suggested in the video caption another option would be to swap the conditioner for coconut oil on the lengths and ends.
Other viewers were enthusiastic about the haircare remedy and had already tried it.
"So, I do this for the second shampoo. The first time, shampooed everything as normal. The second time I just shampoo my scalp and conditioner in the ends," someone shared.
"Let it sit for a couple minutes, rinse, and then just condition the lengths. I've noticed such a difference!"
"Tried it. It's good," another said.
Absolute Collagen Trichologist Eva Proudman recommended washing your hair every day, especially after exercise.
