Hong Kong police charge off-duty officer over alleged rape of woman, 21

Hong Kong police have arrested and charged an off-duty officer in connection with the alleged rape of a 21-year-old woman.

The force said officers launched an investigation after the woman made a report to police at about 3pm on Wednesday claiming she had been raped in a residential flat.

“After conducting an initial investigation, police arrested a 24-year-old man in Tai Po on the same day on suspicion of rape,” police said on Thursday.

The suspect will be brought before Fanling Court on Friday. Photo: Winson Wong

According to police, the suspect is an off-duty police officer.
