‘It’s unacceptable’ woman rages as she receives ‘congratulations’ postcode lottery box and finds she isn’t a millionaire
A WOMAN has revealed that she received a ‘congratulations’ box from the postcode lottery - but was left bitterly disappointed when she looked inside.
Paige, a 26-year-old from Newcastle, explained that she got home, only to find a box on the table from the postcode lottery.
Thinking that she had finally won some cash, the young woman was left disgusted when she noticed that there wasn’t a cheque instead.
Paige took to social media to explain what happened, leaving many open-mouthed.
She said: “Basically I would like to have a word with the postcode lottery please.
“Something happened yesterday which in my opinion is totally unacceptable. I can’t believe they would even do this.

“I can’t believe that you would put anyone through that. You need to sort it. Seriously, I’m about to take it further.
“I came back [home] and Lee was like ‘ohh, you got a box from the postcode lottery’.
“I came in, a little parcel from the postcode lottery sitting on my dining table. ‘Congratulations Paige’.
“I did keep my cool. In the back of my head, I was thinking, ‘I’m going to quit my job, move abroad, my life is going to be fantastic’. I had it all planned out.
“Anyways, I opened the box and a smell hit us. It was nice, it was scented.
“I thought ‘omg, they’ve sprayed the cheque with perfume’. I was getting so excited.
“In the box, was a box. I opened the box and do you know what was in there? Do you know what the suspense was for?”
Paige then explained that rather than a scented cheque, she was given candles from the postcode lottery.
She added: “[It said] ‘Congratulations Paige, thank you for playing the postcode lottery. You have won some luxury scented candles’.
“Now I’m not saying I’m not grateful for the scented candles - they smell lovely. I lit one immediately.
“But that. That’s worse than getting an email saying ‘congratulations, you’ve won’ and then you click on it and it’s a lucky dip.”
Fuming at her find, Paige continued: “I honestly thought ‘my street has won, finally’ - someone's knocking at the door, someone’s ringing the bell.
“So for future reference to the postcode lottery, how about you don't send your customers luxury scent candles in a box that makes it look like they’re going to be millionaires.
“And how about just sending me a big, fat, f*****g cheque instead? Thanks.”
Paige later claimed: “I’m also very much not well so this has caused emotional damage.”
The TikTok clip, which was posted under the username @paige_irklis, just 17 hours ago, has clearly left many open-mouthed, as it has quickly amassed 132,500 views.
Social media users were left in hysterics at Paige’s postcode lottery prize, whilst many revealed that a similar thing has happened to them too.
One person said: “We’ve won a chopping board and a bbq tool! Not a sniff of the money.”
Another added: “I got the same - some small tea lights from St Eval.”
A third commented: “They sent me a pair of socks, they should be fined for doing things like this haha.”
Meanwhile, someone else penned: “I won a burger press from the postcode lottery.”
Another annoyed person chimed in: “This happened to me, only it was three mini hand creams. I was fuming.”
Despite this, some other social media users admitted that they have indeed won money on the postcode lottery.
One user claimed: “We won £1,000. It came in the big gold envelope. Was a lovely surprise.”
