I use a $13 Amazon buy to keep my home warm without heating, you need it if you have pesky drafts
A DIY enthusiast has revealed how a budget buy helps to keep their home warm throughout the colder months.
She recommended the tip to homeowners who find themselves struggling to prevent pesky drafts.
Money-saving TikToker The Cosy Club (@the.cosyclub) shared the hack with their over 12,000 followers.
“Watch this if your room is always cold!” read the text over the video.
A woman pointed at her windows which despite being double-glazed were failing to block cold air from entering the house.
“So much heat escapes through drafts in the windows,” the text continued.
“Use window draft blockers on the edges of your windows.
“They are cheap and easy to buy.”
She showed the process of applying a strip of draft blocker around the edges of her windows to block any gaps.
She captioned the post: “Stop drafts from ruining your winter! Energy prices are crazy, but we will keep you cozy.”
Over 2 million people watched the hack and the video received almost 23,000 likes.
Commenters were grateful for the advice but warned fellow homeowners that they need to be mindful to still open windows regularly to avoid condensation and mold.
A foam tape that has been designed specifically for insulating windows is available to buy on Amazon for just $13.
Shoppers have given it a 4.3-star rating and written glowing reviews about how easy it was to use.
Many claim they “immediately” noticed a change in temperature and that their home was noticeably warmer.
One reviewer wrote: “I bought this to plug up the gaps around an old door we never use.
"The stripping went on well and is doing a great job of keeping cold air out and warm air in.”
Another said: “It’s honestly the best thing I have ever bought. I wasn’t sure how to fix the minor draft created from my front door.
“So I bought this and after many trial and error (trying to find how to fix the draft) I found a sweet spot and it has helped keep my living room warm and my heater not running as much.”
A third penned: “Since installing it, I have noticed a significant decrease in the amount of heat that escapes through my windows and doors.
“This has not only made my home more comfortable, but it has also helped to lower my energy bills.”
