‘My European heart screams’ woman leaves people divided after taking down Xmas tree on Boxing Day – when do YOU do it?

IT'S Boxing Day and whilst many families spend time together or head to snap up bargains from the high street, mum Nessa is already taking down her Christmas tree.

The cleaning fanatic, from Brisbane, Australia, sparked a fierce debate online after revealing she's already packing up all the festive decorations - and the tree - on Boxing Day.

Nessa revealed that she had been waiting to remove the decorations for a while now, as they had been up since November

According to the tidying enthusiast, she spent the holiday taking off the stunning baubles and chucking them inside the decoration box, alongside the string lights, as well as the faux fir.

To ensure there was not a gram of festive feeling left over, the mum also hoovered the floors to get rid of any fir needles and packed up the festive ornaments sitting around the house.

The Christmas cushions too, she shared in a video posted on TikTok, were chucked away and replaced with a less festive beige colour scheme.

''Till next year Christmas,'' the Aussie seemed excited in the caption, explaining she had been waiting for this moment for a while now.

''I put mine up in November so I was ready to get it down.''

However, the clip, which has racked up close to 730k views in just ten hours, left social media users totally divided.

Whilst many like the Aussie couldn't wait for Christmas to be over, many festive super fans thought it was far too early to remove the decorations.

''My European heart screams,'' one person cried in sheer horror.

''Omg already!!!!!! Bro I keep it up until like end of January,'' someone else added.

Hundreds also raced to comments to share their family traditions and when the tree is taken down in their households.

One, for instance, said that their fir stays up ''until January 6th''.

''Way too early,'' another chimed in.

But there were also plenty of those, especially fellow parents, who'd some the same.

One mum said: ''Mine's down too! Always take it down Boxing Day, so many toys and kids around, I need all the space I can get.''

Another had removed their fir even earlier, writing: ''I took my tree down at 3pm on Christmas day, got sick of looking at it.''

When do YOUR family take down the Christmas tree?

Although this varies from household to household, traditions usually say you should be keeping the festive season - and decorations - going all the way until January 6th.
