Tech chief Amit Yoran who served as Tenable CEO dies ‘unexpectedly’ aged 54 during cancer battle
TOP tech chief and entrepreneur Amit Yoran has died "unexpectedly" at the age of 54.
The cybersecurity expert, who served as the chairman and CEO of Tenable Holdings, was battling cancer.
It is understood the tech boss took a medical leave on December 5.
Tenable said in a statement that Yoran was a "visionary leader and a pioneer in the cybersecurity industry".
The tech firm added: "Amit passed away unexpectedly yesterday. He had been battling cancer. He dedicated his life to making the digital world safer.
"His unwavering commitment to innovation and relentless pursuit of excellence transformed Tenable into a global leader in exposure management."
Yoran also served as the founding director of the US Computer Emergency Readiness Team program at the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), from 2003 to 2005.
He was the president of RSA Security, a computer and network security company, and founded NetWitness, a threat detection and response platform.
In 1998, Yoran co-founded Virginia-based Riptech Inc., which worked to protect government and corporate computers from attacks, CNN reports.
He is survived by his wife and three children.
