Hong Kong police investigating possible foul play in death of village woman, 61, in Tai Po

The spokesman noted that burnt charcoal had been found in the premises.

A source familiar with the case said the woman was found unconscious in a bedroom when her boyfriend returned home after work.

The insider added that had been no reports of domestic disputes or violence between the couple in the past.

The source said crime squad officers had been assigned to investigate because the amount of burned charcoal found on the spot might not be sufficient to cause death.

Some reddish marks were found on the woman’s head, he added, noting that they could have been signs of livor mortis.

An autopsy would be carried out to establish the cause of the death, and detectives from the New Territories North regional crime unit are investigating the case.
