Racing at Thurles delayed after heavy fall for jockey Michael O’Sullivan with air ambulance called

RACING at Thurles has been abandoned after Michael O'Sullivan suffered a heavy fall in the second race on the card.

The Irish Horseracing Regulatory Board (IHRB) posted on Twitter that he was receiving medical attention and that an air ambulance is now on site.

O'Sullivan, 25, was riding the favourite Wee Charlie in the Racing Again February 20th Handicap Chase when he came down at the final fence.

Two others horses fell at the final fence in a horrific incident, but the other jockeys involved were believed to be unhurt.

The County Cork native burst onto the scene in the 2022/23 season when riding for Barry Connell, steering Marine Nationale to a famous success in the Supreme Novices' Hurdle at Cheltenham.
