Welsh Open snooker 2025 LIVE RESULTS: Higgins and Allen through, defending champ Wilson OUT as ACTION continues on Day 1

THE Welsh Open is UNDERWAY as 64 stars compete in the final Home Nations Series event of the season.

Defending champion Gary Wilson crashed out in the first round after a shock 4-3 defeat to Ishpreet Chadha.

John Higgins went through in comfortable fashion with an unanswered four frames over fellow Scot Graeme Dott.

English duo Elliot Slessor and Robert Milkins are also through to the second round.

Former World No.1 Mark Allen was made to work for his 4-3 win against 18-year-old talent Stan Moody. The latter raced into a 2-0 lead before being pegged back level twice and a final-frame win for Allen clinched a spot in the next round.

Ronnie O'Sullivan is set to begin his campaign on Tuesday - playing for the first time in a month - against Jamie Rhys Clarke as he looks to pick up his form ahead of the World Championship.

The race for the £150,000 Home Nations bonus concludes at the Welsh Open, with Neil Robertson currently leading the way for the huge cash prize.
