WE all want to save a little right now, but it can be difficult to bag a bargain at the tills.

With shoppers fighting over discounts, one woman has defended her decision to clear out the shelves and take at home over a hundred pound's worth of groceries for just £25.

Though you might not be able to guarantee a good price at the checkout, there are simple hacks for getting money off your food bill.

From spending loyalty card points to comparing groceries online, most of us have used multiple methods to keep costs down.

The best buys are still the iconic yellow label products, with supermarkets dramatically reducing damage or short date products to just a fraction of their original.

Even if you go at the end of the day though, you still might find these discounts and waste ages hunting down a decent discount.

With more of us wanting to save right, it’s gotten even harder to find these items on the shelves.

However, one woman has defended bagging multiple bargains after her food shop at Waitrose turned into a massive haul.

Sharing her shop in the Yellow Sticker Shopping Tips, Tricks and Hauls group on Facebook, she even explained how she’d managed to get so many bargains in the posh supermarket.

She wrote: “Just popped to Waitrose. They were shutting at 4. Empty as you like. At ten to four the lady wheels out trolleys of reduced stuff!”

Unsurprisingly, she was excited about her supermarket sweep and added: “Pretty pleased with what I picked up! Especially after All the family have been here and the provisions were seriously depleted!”

Snagging packs of free range sausages worth £4.50 for just £1.45, £5 schnitzel for less than £2 and even fillets of sea bass for £2 (usually £5.60) – the woman filled her trolley with meat and fish.

She even got eggs, milks and fresh veggies with her shopping bill continuing to add up.

Rather than paying £150 for her huge haul, the thrifty shopper spent only £25 despite the normally high cost of each item.

Whilst most of us would be impressed with how many discounts she got, the money saving expert revealed that she’s had to defend her shopping trip.

Having uploaded photos of her haul, she pointedly wrote: “To answer the questions that usually arise…we will eat it, it has been frozen, no I haven’t stolen food out of your trolley, yes we need it, [and] yes, we will use it.”

It seems it’s not the first time the user has come under fire either, as she added: “There was nobody else there except me and my friend [and] there was loads left as the store closed being loaded into trolleys.”

Despite the backlash about her other hauls, members of the group were pretty impressed with her recent purchases.

One even wrote: “You don’t have to justify yourself to others you didn’t steal it, you paid. It was there on offer and why not have it.”

Another agreed, saying: “Well done and you shouldn’t have to explain yourself to anyone, its your money and you buy what you want.”

Well that is one way to stock up for less.
