"You can use baking soda as an exfoliator to clear your skin - and not just clearing your skin, it gives you glass skin," she says.

The makeup pro then shares her two month update before explaining the exact process to follow.

"All you need to do is add some water with the baking soda," she explains.

"Now a lot of people mix a whole bunch of other stuff and you can definitely do that, but you can just also keep it really simple, just by adding water.

"You do want to make it really pasty, then apply it to your skin - but don't be harsh with it."

The beauty whizz advises gently rubbing it into the skin, applying it at night and making sure you moisturise after use.

Shea goes to to suggest also getting some Vaseline and putting it on your face right before bed.

"You will definitely dry out pimples and breakout," she notes.

"If you use baking soda, you will exfoliate your skin, if you use baking soda, you will clear out the dark marks - baking soda will most definitely clean out your pores."

She continues: "People have been using baking soda for years, and they will vouch and tell you, it works tremendously.

However, the beauty fan does say it's not for everyone and recommends testing it on on a small area of your face such as your chin to see how it reacts to your skin first.

"You only need to let it sit for one minute," she says.

"Use it two to three times a week - or you could literally just do it once a week for once a month. You will get results instantly."

Shea captioned the post: "It really works!"

It wasn't long before the post went viral, garnering a whopping 639k views and hundreds of comments from social media users.

"I mix baking soda and turmeric. Someone recently said my skin looks good," wrote one.

A second penned: "Organic honey and baking soda into a paste is also really good (twice a week)."

A third commented: "I'm 51 and I have been doing this for decades. I don't use Vaseline for moisture though."

Meanwhile, a fourth noted: "You can use coconut oil with the baking soda and do the same."

And a further added: "It sure does works. I was scared to try it because my face is sensitive but you also need to watch what baking soda you use."

The common cooking ingredient is an anti-inflammatory and will help soothe redness and reduce swelling and absorb any excess oil from your skin, which dries out spots and makes it less likely you’ll break out.

It also works as a natural exfoliant, and when applied on the face as a scrub, cleans out dirt and dead skin from pores, helping to prevent against flare-ups by keeping your skin free from bacteria.
